Because sometimes when jars are sealed you can still smell due to the sealing not being 100 percent sealed. The littlest gap will power you with smell.

Ive tried tons of different brands and kinds of preserved curd, some are delicious. That particular one is the most vile of all of them. It tastes like youve emptied a used diaper into your mouth. And that furry, stringy, mould is just hideous. Than you get the salt crystals for added crunch. FOUL.
