THIS is disrespectful for Ariel to make it a talking point. Ariel constantly does this too. Bringing up drama or makeup insults, but trying to frame it as "social media talk" or quoting someone else, as a way to say what he wants to say, while placing the blame on someone else to make himself seem innocent. It's such slimy behavior, and it's a fixture in Helwani interviews.

I have been startled and a bit blown away by the sheer volume of disrespect and the seemingly industry wide, universal oversight & dismissal of Stipe's chances of victory by all the talking heads and pundits in the greater MMA industry. Luke Thomas & all other key MMA media have simply acted like it's a foregone conclusion that Miocic is to be stretchered/marbleized before the world, and that Stipe being separated from consciousness is an all but promised career formality for Jones en route to his premature retirement. As soon as the fight was announced, all the talk has been about Tom Aspinall and how Stipe's destruction is simply a rite of passage which ought to be being enjoyed by the interim champ, too...not just by Jones. I think Stipe is Jones' first ACTUAL fight, possibly ever. Meaning a fight wherein Jones does not enjoy enormous physical advantages in every meaningful category. Furthermore, I can't wait to see Jones hopefully be floored for the long count. He's had it coming for ages, and he will deserve every second of it for being the narcissist POS he is/has been. Stipe by TKO/KO is a very possible outcome, and I just hope he serves Luke Thomas and others a big plate of their own shit, as an entre, complete with a big mumbling sermon about being doubted yet again.

Been saying this for a long time
@TheStraightestWhitest12 күн бұрын
Yeah my man, eight years ago I'd give Stipe the far better shot, with Jones basically only having a chance to win by decision. But he's 43. He looked atrocious in his last fight. Super underweight yet still somehow slow. Hesitant. Lacking in power. Lacking in killer instinct. Unresponsive. Zero head movement. Those wars with DC took it out of him, and then he got brutally KO'd by Francis. That was almost four years ago. His most recent win is less recent than the most recent win of Fedor Emelianenko, a retiree, and Anthony Johnson, a dead man. He's fought nobody who's even IN THE UFC STILL, that's how long it's been. When Stipe last fought, Alex Pereira, a double champ with five title fight wins and three title defenses, wasn't even in the UFC yet. When Stipe last won, Joe Biden hadn't even beaten Trump yet. It's a far away scrap of history by now, and you can't compare that to anything, because the truth is that it's been far too long for us to even be able to judge. And Daniel Cormier himself says it too; past the age of 38, every year is felt more than before. So him looking bad at 38-39 means now at nearly 43 is gonna be a disaster. If Stipe pulls this off or even makes it competitive, which I dearly hope he does as he was easily my favorite fighter for years, then it sadly won't speak measures about Stipe anymore. It'll just confirm what we already know, which is that Jon Jones is the most overrated athlete of all time out of any sport.

There were questions about Jon ducking Tom by organising this fight with Stipe...I could buy that he wasn't... BUT Jon saying he would rather fight Poatan than Tom if he wins against Stipe is textbook ducking. Period.

Win or lose, Stipe is the man. I hope he wins in spectacular fashion.

Remember we can say Stipe has the best heavyweight record of all time and still say he is in his declining years and has had too much time off. It is not about doubting Stipe , it is about understanding the situation. The whole organisation bent over backwards to make the fight happen at the request of the fighters and Dana, not at the demand of the fans. Biggest tier of upset possible if Stipe wins, imo.

Hope stipe can pull the upset. 20-4 is an insane heavyweight record. Jones is 27-1. Stipe is the gretaest heavyweight the ufc has ever had and the disrespect is unreal.

This could be a good fight. If Stipe can stuff Jones' takedowns and submission attempts I think he could cause problems for Jones. He has a lot more punching power and Gustafsson and Reyes gave Jones problems with good footwork and boxing.
