D1 wrestling + golden gloves champ. What a complete fighter Stipe was, until his age kicked in
@madgavin7568 Жыл бұрын
His skill-set made him championship quality for Heavyweight, but he wasn't a complete fighter lets be honest. He was well-rounded in that he had elite striking and wrestling, but there were key elements missing to his game in both areas. Most notably on the feet; kicking, even the shorter and fatter DC was a better kicker than Stipe was, his clinch game was pretty average as well. On the ground, it was submissions as Stipe doesn't have a single submission win in his pro career. If Stipe was versed in submissions, he could have gotten Francis out of there and potentially saved himself taking unnecessary damage even from a gassed Francis (who is still dangerous), which contributed to the KO loss to DC in his next fight. And yes age did eventually catch up to him.

@jpr3680 Жыл бұрын
It’s an interesting balance for heavyweights, because at that size you’re giving up speed with those additional pounds.
