I have a Sterling Moss story. This was mid to late 60s my friend and I were at Road America for the Can Am Series. We had gone to a nice restaurant in Plymouth and were seated when our hostess came to our table and asked if it’d be alright if she seated another gentlemen at our table. We, being two polite midwestern boys, said certainly. When she brought the gentleman to our table we both recognized instantly who we were in the presence of. Across from us sat none other than Sterling Moss! We looked at each other, likely mouths embarrassingly agape and welcomed our additional diner. Through our meal we asked Sterling two or three questions trying to be polite while we both had dozens we’d like to pester him with and he very gentlemanly answered. We all enjoyed the meal and Sterling excused himself before we had finished. When we went to the cash register we were told that the gentleman seated at our table had picket up the tab for us. That’s class with a capital C!! That’s my Sterling Moss story……..

Great story, but it's 'Stirling'. He was named after a town in Scotland.

My boyhood hero. At the age of sixty-one, in 2010, I finally got to meet him. He was still my hero and will ever remain so.

Moss was dominant in his time. In his last race he put his last year's car on the pole against the latest machinery from BRM and Cooper.

You have the car noises often louder then S. M's. voiceover. Terrible!

36 min in and it's painful to listen what Stirling say when there is some Grand Prix sounds overcoming his voice. Not sure if it's only me watching/listening this via sell phone while suffering right side hearing loss from my mandatory Defence Force service back in a days by two cliks... This dokument of your is the first so far im having issues though. Thank you for all the hard work you do anyway. 🙏

It's not just you. This is a great documentary ruined by terrible audio. Whoever mixed it must have eventually realised how bad it was because it got better for the final 15 mins.

He never won the F1 WDC. Gave the championship to fellow British driver Mike Hawthorne by protesting his penalty in Portugal

Moss would have won in 1958 instead of Hawthorn, if Moss had not argued against Hawthorn's penalty in Portugal. Remember Hawthorn at Le Mans in 1955. Again Moss would have won if Mercedes had not withdrawn, but not Jaguar.

I have to disagree. He was by no means the greatest diver of all time. That goes to Fangio. Then for raw talent, that goes to Jim Clark. Moss's biggest problem was that his ego was bigger than his capability.
