What size needle are you using I bought a nylon bonded 138 thread and I can get my new boss to hold a stitch will not sew with the thread but when I change it back to the 270 thread it sews and the white 270 on top will sew with the 138 in bobbin I’m so confused and frustrated I could not get the smaller thread to work
@AttackLineLeather7 күн бұрын
@@TinaMooney-qu7hs looks like youll need a 160 needle for 138 thread.

Just the video I needed to see! I was wondering if my tippman was capable of doing this. I've only every used it for knife sheaths, and honestly I have never liked how the back side looks. The front of my stitches look great, but the back looks like crap. How does yours look? (Not that it would make a difference for hat patches, I'm just curious)
@AttackLineLeather2 жыл бұрын
By the back looking like crap do you mean little bumps from the lock stitch? Might need to adjust your thread tension
@ReeseCustoms2 жыл бұрын
@@AttackLineLeather it's like, you don't see neat little stitches, like on the front. You can see the stitches from the bottom thread, but you can also see the thread from the top. Like where it loops together
@AttackLineLeather2 жыл бұрын
@@ReeseCustoms its either a tension issue or make sure you do full range stitch strokes. Make sure to hit the full range of motion. Not doing so can make the Boss run wonky.
@ReeseCustoms2 жыл бұрын
@@AttackLineLeather I'm thinking it is probably a tension issue. I've had my machine probably 5 years, but honestly haven't used it much. I'll mess with it some more and hope for the best

Class work. Love the idea of the patches on the hats. I have just purchased a Tippmann boos over her in Ireland. when i am stitching it will make the stitch hole but no stitch hole but no stitch and have to go back , Why would this be happening, Thanks
@AttackLineLeather2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. When this happens I generally check several things. I first check to make sure my thread is threaded correctly in the machine. Next I check to make sure my the thread tensioners are set correctly. Next make sure the handle is secured tightly with the screws. Sometimes they come loose and will cause skipped stitches. Last, I make sure the presser foot is adjusted properly. If you just got the tippmann boss it should have come with an instruction DVD that will go over how to make these adjustments. Hope this helped

Great work man! I just started my side business as a Texas firefighter making leather goods, and am considering the tippman boss. Does it have any issues sewing anything smaller around 4-5 oz leather? Any real issues with it so far? Thanks
@AttackLineLeather3 жыл бұрын
Great to hear my man. Leather work is a great side gig. To be honest, look at the Cowboy Outlaw sewing machine. It is made with far superior parts and functions pretty much the same as the boss. My main gripe with the boss these days are crappy parts. Ive had to change several. Ive sewn leather as thin as 2oz no problem

How do you get a tight stitch when rounding corners? Would it be a tension issue with my boss? For some reasons on a corner the stitch is always loose.
@AttackLineLeather3 жыл бұрын
Yes it could be a tension issue, but also something im now doing is as i make the corner, i leave the needle in the leather as i rotate it. In the video im pulling the needle completely out. Give it a shot

i don't see many leathercrafter using the tippmann boss machine, what would you say is the down side to this machine? how do you use one hand only when stitching? thanks for the video rob
@AttackLineLeather4 жыл бұрын
Great question. It is definitely a very mechanical machine. I would say the downsides are the price, and that if you have to large stitch jobs it can get tiring. As far as using one hand you definitely get used to it however i cant wait to upgrade so that i do have two hands free. If you like i have made a Tippmann Boss Review video. It might give you more info

I recently bought a boss and I get about half way done and it binds up, handle wont move and it tangled udernearth. I have tried different tension settings on top but have not messed with bobber underneath. Any advice as to what may cause this or somehow are you able to share what you have your tension set to on top and on bobber/
@AttackLineLeather3 жыл бұрын
Most of the time its not the bobbin tension. Things to make sure of is that you are using the right size thread fir the right size needle. You can try andgusting your presser foot tension. Sometimes if its too tight or too loose it can affect stitches
@MK116Alex3 жыл бұрын
Make sure you pull the handle all the way down and all the way up with every stroke. Sometimes I forget and my mind starts to wander a bit and that will happen. Also the up stroke tightens the stitch so if you short stroke on the way up you won't get the full tightening on that stitch.
@FrancisoDoncona2 жыл бұрын
Old video but normally you bury the needle, raise the foot to turn then drop the foot. You let the part move nearly an inch. How do you not get a tangle or large loop error?
