My mom loves watching your videos, so she was sad when I told her it was probably more computer/technical than she'd appreciate. But I am enjoying the detailed content! Thanks for sharing your process.

This was so useful! Thank you, Mateusz! There are a number of scanning apps with stitching routines but they all fail miserably. It has to be a manual process and yours seems very exact!

Wow this was so useful! I do a similar things but some of the tips are going to make my scans so much better thank you! Being self-thought sometimes makes me take the longer route to do things :)

I usually stitch my scans on another software and I’m not so familiar with Photoshop. Thank you so much for sharing your process. It’s very helpful! I think my process of stitching scans would be much faster and seamless from now on.

besides using the auto-align function that photoshop has, you can also try setting the top layer to the "Difference" blending mode instead of reducing the opacity. This way what is identical in the layers will look black and the differences will be colored. This way you can nudge the layers with the arrow keys pixel by pixel until it's perfect. But again, I think you'll find photoshop's auto-align function to work perfectly.

Doesnt photoshop have automatic matching? So you just have to mark the files you want it to stitch together and it will do it for you. Photomerge or something I think?
@mattjabbar6 жыл бұрын
Eni I think it has but I don’t trust it to be honest :)

After putting all three pics in the same file. How about using "edit / Auto-Aligh layers" function ? And then use your masking technique.
@mattjabbar6 жыл бұрын
I have to try this, but to be honest I do not trust the auto alignment algorithms. I worked two days on that picture so I can take 2 minutes to make sure its connected perfectly ;)

If I were to order one of your prints to Thailand, how long would it take to deliver? I'm looking to decorate my house with your store front series, they look amazing.

I have a question: After you scanned and stitched together the scans, do you only use the "Image > Adjustments > Levels" or do you use another way to match the colors of the scan with the original pic?
@EmmaQUB6 жыл бұрын
That was really useful, thanks for sharing! Something scared me tho: when you put those heavy books to avoid too much lighting issues, wouldn't it damage your drawing?
@mattjabbar6 жыл бұрын
If you do it just for the scan it's OK. It's bad if you forget it there ;)

Very useful, thank you for sharing your process! It looks like the paper has a bit texture. I am actually thinking about what kind of paper I should use for watercolor. Until now I always use paper with "just a bit texture" but not too much so maybe I will try a more textured one... I am always amazed to see how nice the colors are on your painting, compare to mine that are always a bit "light", maybe I don't put enough water when using my colors (it dries very quickly and I almost don't have time to pull the drop or create nice gradients). Any hint on that?
@mattjabbar6 жыл бұрын
The amount of water vs. paper texture (and how it behaves with water) is really important. I like the cold press paper because it gives me smooth washes without too much "watercolory" texture. The amount of water is something you have to experiment with but good paints will give you intensive colors even with fair amount of water used.
@shibakaneki5556 жыл бұрын
ok, i will experiment more then! thx

Does anyone know the name of the art style he uses? I’ve been trying to find the name of it for quite some time but I can’t find it!
@mattjabbar6 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm this is a difficult thing. I think that anime backgrounds or watercolor concept arts (like ghibli for example) are the closest but then again not exactly the same thing. I don't have a specific name for it.
