Thank you so much for putting this up Tree, I love how your tutorials make it easy for anyone to sew :) I really like cowl necks, as I´m big busted I find they are a great "disguise" and look so pretty. I just have a question about cutting it out, do I need to lay the pattern and cut on the bias? I always get confused (and frustrated) about that bit. Also, what material is more suitable and looks better? I plan on making a few of them. Thanks Tree and have a great weekend.
@StitchlessTV8 жыл бұрын
+jenacy That is a very very good question. I was using a light weight stretch fabric so I fidn't put it on the cross but yes, if it is not a stretch you absolutely should put it on the cross to not only get the drape but the stretch. Tree I haven’t watched all your videos yet, but you asked if we could suggest or request any sensible thing for you to make. Could you by any chance do a video on the fitted bust in the style of either a 50’s dress or like the fitted bust part of an empire line dress please? I would just like to see how easily you could make it for me to do a fitted over the bust and fitted under the bust into an alone dress please? I hope you understand what I mean. If not, I can look up a pattern number online to give you some idea of what I mean. I can’t get a pattern in my size because I’m very much not slim! If you have time that is. Thank you. 👍🏼

I'm sorry but it's the bit where you say; "does that make sense". I just don't get how you get the shape of the flap that folds underneath. I understand the folding across straight well above neckline but don't understand how you get the shape of the flap
@StitchlessTV3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay...not sure if this is the bit but if when you cut the draped neck you fold the paper and then do it, you are automatically cutting the facing at the same time. Hope that helps.

I'm confused. You said to find a t-shirt that you like that fits well, then you proceed to cut it up. What a waste. All you need is to make a paper pattern of the t-shirt without any seam allowances and then you make all the alterations based on that paper pattern don't you?
@StitchlessTV8 жыл бұрын
+amir1a123 Yes, you are of course right. I can make a paper pattern and then do my alterations to the pattern but.... I think that would take much longer and the viewer would loose interest. I use this top over and over again as a template so I am happy that I have not wasted my T-Shirt and we all have tops in our cupboard that fit ok but for whatever we just don't like to wear. Tree
