I would also like to add, that while these comments of depression are accurate, there is also the work for the depressed person to begin to accept their condition. Such a delusion that they must live like this has long been accepted by them, and consequently they would need substantial support and skill and care from others to get to that point. Their first departure with another after "I cannot function in the world", would be "I am not depressed". Just drawing attention to depression (and sin even more) would be hopeless. The person who wrote those accounts of depression, spoken from their heart, is truly gifted, because they have accepted their delusion. It is something rarely achieved or written about on such accurate terms.
