STL Hills Car Wash Needs Help

In the search for a cheap, quick car wash after leaving my car parked for a few weeks, I decided to swing in to the St Louis Hills Car Wash. The visit ended up being so eventful that I grabbed my camera gear and went back to do an update video. I can't believe how much it deteriorated. A bunch of jets don't work, the hoses spray everywhere, a bunch of service panels are bent off or missing...
Whoever owns this place needs to do some major maintenance (no more zip ties and plastic conduit) or consider replacing the system completely. Totally unacceptable to have it operating in this condition, especially at those prices.

If the owner wants to make the most money from the automatic bay, they should consider switching to a mini tunnel. They cost more to put in, but have significantly better throughput and require no additional time for extra services.

Having a touchless system is, if anything, a disadvantage. Touchless systems cannot clean as well and are extremely slow. With the proper marketing, a low-traffic site can become a high-volume one. Not to mention you can offer more expensive washes and unlimited plans.

SF Car Wash Channel But there are so many people who don’t want a soft touch wash. People think it scratches their car. I live down the street from a Mark VII Choicewash XT, and people almost always choose the touchless option. And the advantage of in-bay systems is space. Their footprint is much smaller than a mini tunnel, and they are cost effective towards most gas stations, because you don’t need an attendant. And above that, even if it’s slower, they can still get away with the $9-$10 wash options, because they do an okay job. And another advantage is having doors, especially if you live in a winter state. I live in Minnesota, and almost all of the washes up here are in-bay because of that. A tunnel a few miles away from my house operates until the temperature reaches 34°F, which is pretty pathetic to be honest. On the contrary, the Choicewash XT down the street, which is an in-bay system, can operate until the temperature reaches -5°F, which is so much better than the tunnel, because of how much salt can end up on your car

Run to Glen carbon. There is a car wash called Executive car wash. There touchless is a Navigator, Try their soft touch. The top wash is $8.00. The system is a Ryko softgloss xs

You would never get anything like that in the UK. Our washers are on a two rail ground system and simply go over. And yet for what I can gather these are the basic models and still heckler expensive. I believe ours get regular maintainer checkups because of health and safety.

My guess is that the owner has a replacement system on standby and is no longer maintaining it because of that. This system is probably in its final operation days and the owner is just wearing it out while the new system gets prepared and delivered. But, if that is the case, then the owner DOES need to lower the prices by about $3 or $4 each.

These old-school D&S units are really generous with chemicals and do a great job if they're maintained properly. I didn't even see any posted contact info for management here, though I also didn't look around much.

It's super interesting how the D&S 5,000 in STL Hils is really in bad shape. I guessing that the owner of the wash didn't want to pay too much money for fixing it up. I heard that running a car wash business is such a hard job because you have to fix things that break in the wash and it can get very expensive.

I went through a 4000 before, and it was in rough shape, but it did a good job. The old 4000's do a good job. The new 4000's don't have a good behavior. (The new 4000's are too new that they don't know what to do).
