You could say the same for all 11 guys on that side of the ball that year it was truly a magical season hell thanks to John Lynch we now have the most common called penalty in the ganw

That’s why he was first year Hall Of Fame selection. Him and Sapp both were selected in their first year of eligibility, rightfully so. It was so amazing that Brooks also got to cap this season off with the winning interception score to ice the SB. Dexter Jackson got the MVP, but really the entire defense could have been given the MVP for the super bowl and the entire season league MVP, if that were possible. Monte Kiffin’s defense were some of the most electrifying defenses to ever play the game. You always knew they were one INT or fumble away from a TD at any point in a game. Five picks in the super bowl and three of them for TD returns. I don’t know if we’ll ever see that again in a super bowl? I never seen any defense move as quickly laterally as Kiffin’s defenses did. Always swarming around the ball and some of the best ever at recovering fumbles on the run. Kiffin kept the Buccaneer defense in the top ten defenses in the league for more than ten years. I think that only the Steelers form the 70s did that before. Television did little justice to showing the speed of that defense. I remember going to some games where you could see the entire field and watching that swarm of red jerseys following that ball was incredible,

Well the greatest show on turf was in '99 and the Bucs played them in the playoffs and held them to 11 points but were cheated. It was practically the same team in 2002 with I believe 1 or 2 of the players leaving I think.

This is a example of how football was higher quality in 2002 than it is in 2018. In 2002 the Bucs showed who was the better defense beating all comers including the overhyped Ravens. This was NFL football at it's best and I am still waiting for better play by any team in 2018. Sapp, Rice, Barber, Lynch, Alstott, Jackson, and Brook were the best to ever play the game as a team. Add to this Kiffen and Lewis, Reed., Boulware, and Porter were chumps. This game proves it.

Not quite. The Rams got back on track in 2003 and 2004. That was just another year where both Super Bowl teams (NE and STL) failed to make the playoffs. Unfortunately, that was also the case in 2003 when both TB and OAK collapsed.

In this era of football they hit harder played tougher defense still passed the ball well and I don't remember as many guys getting knocked out for the season back then as they do now. These days it seems like every week we lose a star to non contact knee and ach. Tendon injuries.

Sapp could have ended Warner's career on that block on Brooks' game-clinching pick six. Instead of destroying him he just shoved him to the ground, unlike the Chad Clifton hit later that year. Warner still mentions this play when he calls MNF games on the radio to this day - how Sapp took it easy on him.

So just that pesky Lions game remains. You know, during the Marty Morhinweig (sp?) years for the Lions, they went 5-27. The Bucs played them three times. All three games were decided by three points. The home game in 2001 against an 0-11 Detroit team needed Keyshawn's only TD of the season in the final minute to escape with the win. The Bucs really played down to Detroit. And, of course, several years later, the Bucs were the team that snapped Detroit's NFL record 26 game road losing streak and sabotaged their playoff chances with it.

I remember this year when the Rams started off lousy, everyone was calling for Warner's head saying he lost something, saying that the offense's problems was his fault. This game I think shows the opposite with Warner getting his head taken off, still able to throw some amazing passes. He looked pretty decent against a defense that obliterated every other QB.
