This young man with his Subaru and stock long block made numerous 800hp pulls and now made over 1000 WHP pull and at the same time the rest of the world is struggling to keep their turbo subarus long living at 300hp crank and many doing built motors just to hold 400hp. With open mind and common sense and a touch of Genius the Subaru STI is one very good platform for racing and all in between. Bader is a good man

That’s what I absolutely love the fact that cars be blowing and and needing built internals for some cases less then 400hp while Bader is over hear just showing other timers up.

Cars of this nature invite all sorts of idiots to purchase. When taken care of, they're actually excellent cars. Being a turbo manual makes it very easy for idiots to destroy it like any other manual car.

Now people can not question the numbers. You could thick foam pads on those metal poles. It might help keep rear end on dyno if it did break rear straps.

We love what you are doing! Really pushing things to the limit! The only downside is now people think their stock sti motor can make all this power haha, not that I sell built motors, but we know people go boom at 400hp or so. Most of them can't afford a longblock like we can. Keep kicking ass man!

Not saying it doesn't happen, heck back in 2006 i had an sti with stock motor and 441whp on a mustang dyno with a perrin rotated kit, i know, dating myself. But I could afford it if the engine blew up. Someone who doesn't know subarus may see this and think they are going to send it, and get left with a big bill. That stock block deserves to live on after that. If it were mine and I’d achieved what you have, I’d pull it and place it in a daily, with only slightly modified condition, and see how long it will last under normal everyday use. Either that or pull it and break it down to truly see how it faired. Might have a lot to learn from how that stock engine was put together new. Have to take in consideration that the pan oil isn’t being thrown around by any G-force, and may have something to do with it getting to that power level. I question if it would hold under track conditions at those power levels though . But as you’ve said, it’s exceeded all expectations and then some. I’m very curious as to what makes that engine so special, and could it be reproduced. Perfectly gapped rings, maybe a slight bit on the wider gapping may have helped keep those pistons intact at those boost pressures. That and new, clean, and unclogged oil control rings. Great job! And goes a long ways to shut down all those Subaru haters! They really can be tough little power plants. Really wish I was closer to your shop. I’d wait as long as it took to get a tuning session from you.

So awesome to see BBR new dyno jet,the shop set up is awesome,I know who you are as a tuner this is Dan BBR 500 package 2019 STI that's on the channel,the car has 6700 miles on the car now since you built it last summer stock RA block,runs as strong as when I left the shop,this coming summer were going for more,and it can jump on the new dyno jet,your the best thanks buddy,go VA bait❤

That kind of power is just absolutely insane for a fully stock block setup. I would be very interested to know how far a 100% stock STI can actually go. Stock fueling, cat back exhaust, stock airbox. I own a '21 STI with 15k miles... and am very tempted to take a trip to visit you and have the stock map re-done and have solid power with daily driving being comfortable. Killer work man, i look forward to more stuff from your shop. Keep it goin!

Wait, no knock and you got that much? Wow… that’s amazing. I would double check the knock freq. maybe it’s not picking it up. If everything is fine after making it knock when checking, this is amazing. Defiantly got to let you tune my stage 1.

I'd say that's a fair question, don't know why you got such a B.S reaction from the keyboard heroes. Knock is caused by a few things that Josh is intentionally avoiding. Also note that this tune is producing power very late in the rev range, so it's the speed of the engine making the big HP number. If you apply the boost at high RPM's you take advantage of a concept called Angular Momentum which helps reduce the damaging stresses on the rotating assembly that exist at low rpms when too much cylinder pressure is introduced. This is why this tune is so successful. The engine can not survive too much of this though, but dialled back it is the best way to tune a Turbo. Early torque is what kills turbo charged engines.

@@Candybuiltsi not true. I seen it. I seen knock occurring in 1000 whp+ cars and anyone will tell you you will get some knock, that has a 1000 + car for a while. Then again some cars don’t have any. It all depends on the car even same models vary. I love that you guys give me all this bs about it and it shows you don’t know what your talking about. However when knock does happen through careful tune it can be avoided, mostly, but not all the time. That’s why I am impressed. And I’m an old so I’ve been around. Never got into tuning a car myself though. Never had anyone willing to teach. I had a 1200whp evolution rs 2006 and got knock. Not much but still knock.

Josh i have a 2019 sti. I dont know of a downpipe that will not throw CEL with an accessport tune. Im planning on running an FP green on 93octane with supporting mods. Can i hit 400whp with a safe tune? Is there a way to get rid of the CEL? Im running stock tvg and air pumps too. Im keeping emissions but the downpipe i wanna figure out. Ill be running a built block with 1000cc injectors and rebuilt heads.

man i would love to have my car bbr tuned. currently its on a tune i made and i mean it runs great, pulls and everything is good but i know im playing it mad safe and the motor could do better with fbo. i have it tuned for 14 psi cause i cant figure out how to make it stop overboosting at the top end with more than that for some reason. but i dont think yall do opensource :(

Listen bro I’m not pocket watching this is out of curiosity, but where does he get all this money from. I get that he has a shop, but that many repetitive customers go to him? 90% of Subarus I see are fbo builds, I just don’t see the math in it. Sure I could see him making 60-130k a year, but he clearly makes more than that. Can someone explain this to me

dk all his business dealings, since I don't even know him, nor do I even live in the USA so I don't know all the US business laws, but making a guess based on what I've seen where I live. 1) he owns a shop (owners can earn good money, and they have way more benefits around tax, debt etc, he can legit buy cars or parts and claim it on tax for example), 2) he has worked for long time so would have saved / made a decent amount, 3) he also gets sponsors, so some of the parts on his drag cars are given to him or given to him for cheap. 4) lots of car people do other side jobs also, not just engine builds, but even flipping cars, rebuilding cars, or acting as middle men for other brands or shops and referring clients etc to earn commission. So he might have other revenue streams. But anyhow, that entire drag car in theory can be deducted on tax plus parts from sponsors for example. This is why the vast vast majority drag cars, race cars, or heavily modified show cars are owned by people already in the industry who own shops, and they can claim the car as they use the car for business purposes ("marketing" and "research and development" etc). People in the industry also can save a fortune on labour costs etc. So they can build insane cars, say $200k-$300k builds, for much cheaper than anyone else can, like ridiculous amounts cheaper compared to someone out the industry like myself for example.
