What you forgot the mention is with options far out like that, they're not as liquid, so every time you roll you're losing a lot to slippage.

0.8? I usually use 0.9 delta or higher, therefore i don't have to pay too much for time value yet still got almost full exposure to stock price movement

Well, yes. To make money if the stock price goes down. But without a put it won't lose more than what you've paid for the deep ITM call. So in that sense it already is a hedge against loss, like a stop loss.
