Hey guys just a small video on my own personal views of a Suzuki DR650. Although the bike has modifications the tyres and suspension / seat remain stock. thanks for watching.

We run either Kenda K270 or Shinko E804/E805 tires and love them both. Affordable, decent longevity and good all around performance at an affordable price. At 5:23 you want a 14 tooth front sprocket for the tighter stuff not 16 or you can go with a bigger rear sprocket. 15-44 is pretty much the biggest combo you can run with the stock 110 links chain. Good luck sorting out the suspension, can't wait you see what tires you pick. *T4S*

Thanks for pointing that out! No idea why that passed my brain. Will take a look at the tyres. Thanks man!

+1 on dropping a tooth in the front for tighter stuff OR add a tooth in the rear, which is like dropping 1/3 of a tooth in the F for a reasonable compromise.

The stock Bridgestone on my dr650 was bald in the center after 3500km of hard metal and tarseal road + off road riding. I put a shinko on, $310 I think can't be sure, bike has now done just over 8000km and the shinko is about two thirds worm. Great value for the money. Bridgestone on the front still original getting close to replacement.

Just updated my frount suspension with just new springs Wow night and day going to do the back one as well also if I and doing alot off road put a 14 teeth sprocket on the front 😀 why I done the suspension is because I am 120 kg and run a 25 liters tank good upgrade and have a concept seat on my dr650 CHEERS 🍻

Yep 14T requires much clutch slipping for low speed work. I run 14 T front and stock rear. I fitted it during lockdown to teach my son to ride on front and back lawns and now I can do figure 8s without clutch use - just...I find the 14T is way better closer gearing for the twisties and gravel I like to ride in the Coro. I did about 200-250 ks open road (near Mokau to Whangamomona to Stratford and back up coast to near Mokau) and the Mokau trail ride on 14T and all good with Shinko 244s as it was very dry. I would go back to 15T for a longer more open road rides but it's so easy to change just put a 14T in the tool kit... e.g. I'd take the 14T down South for the trails, 15 for open road cruising - 14T is fine and still easily goes to 130+ km overtaking but at 100-110 on 14T it is a little vibey so 15T better for open road. If anyone wants a 14T PM me on FB - I have a spare I might sell. I wouldn't go without two sprockets...cheapest best "power" and "torque" :-) "upgrade" you can do...cheers Johny for top vids !

I’m going to change up the suspension after the warranty on mine expires. I’m doing the revalve with 8.5 spring on rear and using the 60% springs up front… maybe emulators
@NzJohny2 жыл бұрын
That's what I was thinking to. 👌

Late 2 conversation but leave it stock till something fucks up and you gotta replace it. (Unless it's the NSU) PS it's not a dirt bike...... PSS it's not a street bike.
@jayyates62773 жыл бұрын
Have you bothered checking your NSU screws? I read they fixed this issue in 2017?
@NzJohny3 жыл бұрын
I haven't bothered no :) I think 2017 is correct although not %100 sure. Most definitely after 2017. Thanks for watching.

As outdated as these bikes are with the carburetor and such, there really isn’t anything on the market with this set of features and capabilities, especially considering that a brand new one is just shy of $7,000 USD.

If your changing so much on the DR to make it more of the bike you want.... Why did you not just get the KLR? Which looks to me to have all the stuff your changing on the DR..... IDK someone enlighten me. Could be the New 2021 KLR is a POS... tell me why.
