I think the stockfish designers used leela to tune the engine to be more aggressive. I'm happy to see swashbuckling chess again.
@snappingbear
@snappingbear 3 жыл бұрын
Actually the ability to alter Stockfish's aggression has been a feature for a long time, it's called "contempt". It is generally not a good idea to change the default as making it more aggressive and contemptuous of its opponent leaves it more vulnerable to counter attacks.
@davidhanley
@davidhanley 3 жыл бұрын
@@snappingbear I'm certainly aware of that, but stockfish is using attacking tuning it didn't have before. Contempt is more about avoiding draws, not having more awareness of how open lines to the king compensates for sacrificed material.
@quag443
@quag443 3 жыл бұрын
Stockfish's evaluation now uses a fast, shallow neural network (NNUE) in combination with its old handcrafted evaluation. That's why it's playing more aggressively and makes sacrifices more often. NNUE was trained from Stockfish games - there was no tuning from Leela.
@snappingbear
@snappingbear 3 жыл бұрын
@@davidhanley NO it IS not. If you were involved in its development or understood the code base and the neural networks developed for it you would know that.
