Fun fact: for most of European history chess pieces were white and red, rather than white and black. This was due to most chess pieces being made of ivory or bone, half of which they would dip in chemicals to stain them red. Some notable examples of white and red chess pieces prior to the 20th century are the Lewis Chessmen in the British Museum (the red pieces have faded to white since their initial discovery), the ivory chess set owned by Thomas Jefferson, depictions of chess pieces in the writings of Leonardo Da Vinci, and the chess characters in Lewis Carroll’s *Alice Through the Looking-Glass.* The change of the dark pieces from red to black was probably due to the transition from ivory pieces to wooden pieces in the early 20th century.

11:40 I'm not entirely convinced the queen trade loses. (just checked with an engine, it leads to a draw. so it is a very bad move but not terrible.) After Qxg8+ Kxg8 f7+, white gets their rook back. The endgame isn't super clear to me (white has g and h pawns that can possibly promote, although black's pawns in the center are maybe more scary). Other than that, great showcase!

incorrect use of the word to gabel up! The German word "Gabel" means "fork" in English and should be used in this manner! Otherwise call it just pick up some pawns.

Would be cool if there was some ancient Indian chess theory we could unearth and see if it applies to the game as we know it now. Not to take away from the fact that it did probably originate in present-day India, but the game as we know it now has undergone some significant changes from the Chaturanga of the 7th century!
