Stocking Fathead minnows from Anderson Minnow

Ordered 1,000 fathead minnows to stock my new pond. This is a video of me getting them out of the box and putting them into the there new home. There were a couple that didn't make it but not bad out of a thousand! Thought it was cool that the packed the minnows with 2 ice packs to keep them cool.

there is now scott, when I put them in the pond was brand new and only had a concrete covert for them, but they were the only fish in the pond so they had it all to there self!

I use to take the regular pond floating fish food put it in a blender and throw the crushed/powder food into the pond and they would eat it

They will if you give them the right habitat, the lay their eggs underneath things like, logs, lily pads, pallets, tarps, ect. Usely they are stocked into pond to give it a jump start when you add your other fish, like bluegill and bass. So the get eaten very quickly. They where gone from my pond after the first year of adding my other fish

@@DinsmoreOutdoors ah, because I was wondering if you were going to raise the minnows after improving the pond and try to raise the minnows for your other stocked fish.

@@larryfulmer no they just get established in the pond and when you add your bluegill and bass it gives them a ready food supply and a good head start. There are people who have shallow ponds off to the side just for raising forage fish.
