If you want lots of buckets, go to your local pool supply store. Certain chemicals are shipped in small pouches and put in those buckets with locking lids. You may need to rinse them out and make sure chemicals haven't contaminated it. Cheaper than Lowe's or home Depot.

Outstanding evan. Good job getting the new fish entered into your pond alive. I share your reservations on the crappie taking over. To be able to fish your own pond for dinner. I can smell and taste the fish fry from here. Just call me envious. Love watching those ducks. Thanks as usual.

Yeah, that's a great change of pace from a chicken or rabbit dinner. Plus it's fresh caught & form the water to the fry pan is the best eating. Another option is a trout cage and 6-7' of water & 50' or lower water temps for a couple months. If there is a hatchery close enough by to get viable fingerlings in the net cage. Trout feed for 8 weeks & hundred lbs or so of trout fillets. Just something I've heard of. Some of the Triad cities stock their ponds for the winter & offer a pay/lbs fishery of trout. Yeah its managed but, they are still fresh caught fish. Y'all Keep Warm

That look on your face when that bass jumped, hilarious. Love black crappie, best to eat over all fish for me.
@robinpearson45833 жыл бұрын
When restocking your pond, you could try floating your fish containers in the pond water until the temperatures are closer, this should avoid shocking the fish and causing casualties.
@walt10645 жыл бұрын
Look into getting a solar or wind powered pump for air stones. The smaller fish love those areas with higher oxegen levels. Also add some shiners . What make it will produce more bait.

To keep water from splashing out of your bucket if your driving down the road with the bucket in the bed of the truck… put a broken stick in it. It keeps it from splashing out

We are needing to have to restock out pond...haven't been able to catch anything in a year...loads of flooding rains here in N.E. Texas...ponds overflowed and think we lost a lot of fish into a creek...hate to hear it will take 2-3 years to get fish to eat...:(...but we love bass and catfish...add some crappie...we have a feed coop that has fish people come by several times a year...
@Tomhohenadel5 жыл бұрын
Evan, your temp difference would have to be 10 degrees or better to have any effect on the fish. Cool fall day is a great time to stock the pond
@bagermaster-club2 жыл бұрын
For the health of the fish, bottom sediments must be periodically removed. This can be done with a dirty water motor pump and a Bagermaster suction nozzle.

I was raised on a lake and we grew up eating catfish and crappie.
@dbamsch4 жыл бұрын
It would be good stock around 600, 6 to 8" channel catfish and blue cat mix. Crappie also would do well and raise young. Also around 6 lbs of minnows will serve to feed all the fish. My dad had catfish and crappie and they both did very well with the catfish growing up to 10 lbs and had crappie up to 3 lbs in 3-4 years. Have fun with your phone and clear out those bass.
