As a general observation ... why were you cycling against the flow of traffic - I'm guessing the lights had turned in your favour but given the obstruction and the position of the on coming traffic - I'd personally have thought it prudent to wait. But ... I do agree with you that the merc did pull in a bit sharpish.

Shouldn't have gone against the flow of traffic at the lights there. The Merc was too close, but given that it was a narrow residential road with parked cars, I recommend taking a dominant central road position and not allowing them to pass until it is safe to do so.

Could believe this idiot? Don't you mean, couldn't believe this idiot? ;) Some really dangerous driving there. I think riding further out into the lane would have been wiser here. This lane is clearly too narrow to share thanks to the parked cars. (Notice how little space there is on each side of the car at 1:01)

the first error was the idiot on the cycle. even if the lights had changed to green, the green light only means proceed if the way ahead is clear. IT WASN'T that alone suggest this cyclist has a very poor standard of riding
