One of my old stomping grounds. I've not been to the place for at least four years, but it does look as if the town centre is brightening up a lot. Many thanks for this showing.

Thank You very much for this video. Lived near Stockport for around eight years. Left nine years ago and still miss it, so this video was a nice end to a not very nice day. We met some lovely people in Stockport. And had some really nice fish and chips in Grandads. What a surprise thanks again.

Opening a hole in the ground near Barkley's bank so you could see the rats and pollution at a cost of £1.2 million was a disgrace in these cash strapped times,when the Mayor and his cronies opened it they had a crowd of four people to mark the occasion it was that popular,I suggested they make some good use of it and all jump in.

It has changed massively over the last few years. It's quite the place to be now. Lots of new independent bars around the old market place. It's quite the trendy place to be of an evening , but does get busy at the weekend when the weather is good.

?? I've been going stockport since I was born 26 years ago and I me and my family have never turned onto the Road that leads to the market place, I have never seen up that road, I feel so bewildered that something like that was there all this time, museum? Church? A market that dates back to the 1800?

I live just outside the city centre and I hate to admit it but stockport city centre is crap, empty shops , fencing everywhere , I'd rather take a train 15 mins into Manchester city centre where there is a lot more culture and life and way more restaurants, shops, bars , and more vibrant people , stockport is a boring 😴 centre
@honestplaces2 жыл бұрын
Yeh it is a hole, good weather in this video makes it look good. It has no uniqie shops, underbank is dire. The Market inside and out is of poor shops. There is nothing about the centre that is good, Stockport has been in decline for 10 years plus! It has been left to rot.

I’ve lived within 5 years all my 46 years here. It is really quite under inspiring. Area historically is good. Just commerce in the town feels dead. The sun helped with the video. If I was impolite I’d call it as it is. A dump town centre. We all go Mcr ignore it. In recent 5 years some new bars have improved cask ale drinking. So it’s like 5% better but it’s 100% a poor town centre. Nobody goes. We all go anywhere else.
@luizadacosta55212 жыл бұрын
@@zzhughesd it's not that bad. I moved to Stockport about 5 years ago. I almost never go into Manchester any more. Stockport has pretty much everything I need. I admit I am not one for going out on the lash, but there are some nice restaurants and the area around the market has a number of good places to eat and drink. The underbank is getting better all the time.
