I've been running my Herald for over a year now. I bloody love it!

This lathe fills a void in the Canadian market. Not too small, not too large, and it's at a really good price point. The added benefits of a rotating and sliding headstock leaves others in this price range way behind. A big bonus is how quietly it runs!! I'll be purchasing one someday. Love it! Awsome review guys.👍👍

Thanks for the review. I have a midi lathe that has a self ejecting tail centre. It can be a pain when you are trying to squeeze every last millimetre out of bed length to say, drill a hole and as you wind it back the centre keeps coming out! I would have to offset that with the probability of scraping my knuckles on the thread.

Really enjoyed the work out on this new (to Canada ) lathe Ethan. As you know when I first saw it a few weeks ago I wasn't exactly impressed so it's great to be proven wrong😀 The Osage Orange was felled about 10 years ago and cut into bowl blanks. Moisture content is around 12% so pretty dry and hard. The heavy cuts using a 40/40 grind on my 5/8" bowl gouge didn't cause any problems as seen in the video. Definitely a lathe to consider both as an upgrade from a mini or as a lathe to last a lifetime.

Loved your insights and analysis, Peter both from you and Marv and EthanThere’s a big difference between a salesperson with little, hands on experience versus actual wood turners. Ethan, you and Marv are all woodturners so value your opinions.

Very impressive! I have one question; It seems to me it would be too easy to accidentally flip that chromed indexing stopper button thing into lock position while the spindle is rotating...????

Hi Ethan, it’s been a while since the Herald has come on the market, do you know if Record Power is planning to upgrade the Herald with the same tailstock design of the Envoy and same magnetic movable controller as per the feedback from these two gentlemen?

A very good review with two experienced turners, it looks a very good lathe. Does the SC4 chuck lock for reverse operation? Thanks James
@StockroomSupply5 жыл бұрын
Thanks James! The insert does with a set screw to lock it to the lathe spindle. Hope this helps

What is the amperage and voltage of the motor...can the motor be wired as 220v if it comes as 110v
@StockroomSupply2 жыл бұрын
The motor is 120v and runs at 10amps in North America. It cannot be re-wired for 240v. I hope this helps!
