I bought my Flatmaster 11 years ago. Love it. I have used it a lot. I use a shop vac for the dust collection. The dust collection is good. Thanks for the Demo on Making the sides parallel.

Excellent! I need to parallel up a few pieces of fibreglassed wood, and this is exactly what I need. Thanks man!

I have a variant (SandFlee) on the concept. I really like the open drum because it will joint the piece. Bonus: Cubitron now makes strips; I converted, and ... wowie!! Best of both worlds.

I have been using my 24: flatmaster for a couple months now and love it, it is safe, easy, accurate, not too loud and virtually dust free. Highly recommend it, I use it every day. One question how do you just pop off the mdf? Cut it or knock it off?

very cool I'm about to take an ebony board down to 8mm for a fret board this trick solves the problem I was looking at

Very cool! I hope it turns out well 👍

How well did this work out for your luthiery? I am considering buying one for luthiery but am just starting the journey. I'm really curious about this compared to a massive drum sander. Thanks!

I've ended up primarly using it to flaten highly figured blanks. and it doses a great job for that. You can bring stock down to dimension with a bit of careful work, and Dust control is better than a belt drum sander. I've been more that happy with it.

A nice trick I had not considered. Thanks! Which model was in the demo?

Nice video,i never heard of this type of tool,jointer/sander kinda contraption,seems way safer than blade jointer,only part that freaks me out is how your shirt is so close to the roller i feel it could get pulled in with the help of the dust collector vaccum...take care man and thanks for the cool demo

The Flatmasters are pretty unique machines its true! And yeah good call on my loose shirt. I'll pay closer attention next time 👍

I feel like I don't have mine dialed in right or something. I've tried flattening an end grain board with it and the leading edge always ends up a little thinner than the rest. I must be doing something wrong...
@stevem2682 жыл бұрын
with an endgrain cutting board you can sand from all 4 edges, just rotate your board after each pass

Hey Ron! I agree with the rotating the board as Steve mentions. You may also have the drum set a bit too high. Here's a video showing how to set it up - kzbin.info/www/bejne/baalaGZsjaqJbrc
