Couple questions: A) do you have concerns with BRP from a government standpoint? While hopefully there will be a government change, do you have concerns about affordability with inflation and taxes on these recreational vehicles? And, any climate change issues with regard to the fuel they use, and the actual climates they’re used in? For example, here in NL, we’re not having a big winter so far, so the use of snowmobiles is down right now. B) in your TFSA, you say you want to buy, hold for a bit, and sell for profit. While it seems a big vague to me, do TFSA rules say you have to hold stocks for a long time? As not to seem like a trader? Or, something similar? What’s the rule on holding and selling for profit, and not being dinged with capital gains?

The valuation buy for Telus is a multi-year hold. CRA only cares if you're actively trading in your TFSA.

Telus is currently lobbying the federal government to provide home internet access to compete with Rogers and Bell. If approved which could happen especially with a potential Conservative government that should boost the stock price.

When it feels absolutely gross to buy a stock, often the best times to do it haha. I think Telus is getting to that point. We will see. Far from guaranteed but I believe it is a good risk/reward situation.

I believe the gov’t has already approved other companies to play in Bell/Rogers backyards. Now that Telus is offering internet in the East the Gov’t is considering to retract their decision.

What are some good resources to understand all the terms he uses in this vid? Guidance, valuation, p/e (and why it matters) etc - I spend a while learning about these and thought I had a basic understanding. Watching him use all these terms and apply what feels like natural common sense conclusions was super confusing and just raised more questions. It showed me I know nothing about these things and how to actually use them or why they matter.

Already own WELL and a load of T, I might consider adding a small amount of Telus with the gains from my AT&T's sell since I got a little money off the sector. I'm going to keep on selling occasional puts on DOO, but I'm not ready to buy it at this price while competitors seem to be selling for better valuation. Also, we're seeing less and less Ski-doos due to warmer winters, I haven't looked hard into it but Sea-doos seem to be making up for it so far.

Thanks for the video Dan and happy new year. Lot of people, including myself, invest in Canadian companies paying eligible dividends within cash account because of tax advantage. I am not so sure if this is a good strategy anymore since bulk of good dividend payers fall within financial, energy, utilities and telecom sectors in Canada and market seems to punish these sectors more often. Perhaps we should focus a hybrid approach balancing dividends with capital gains.

I have never understood why people trading the TSX tie up their cash on loser companies like telus and bank stocks. There are so many better plays out there, where you can make big money in a week or month that banks more cash than dividend payouts. But ... that's me. I am into volatile good stocks that move $0.80 per day at least.
