What doesn't makes sense is you mention that the fed is planning for 2 rate cuts in 2025 due to employment shedding. The fed cut late in 2024 only for "mainstreet" to see mortgage, CC's, and auto loans creep up. I'm not so sure that we don't see this trend continue in 2025 whereby the fed cuts .25 but does nothing to the above listed loans for "mainstreet". Feom your perspective, where do you see a "mainstreet" benefit should the fed further cut in 2025 as mentioned?

It's really heartbreaking to see how inflation and recession impact low-income families. The cost of living keeps rising, and many struggle just to meet basic needs, let alone save or trade. The average American consumer is the frog in the pot of water. They don't notice the heat until too late.
@WEHTTAMAZABALAC16 сағат бұрын
That maybe because the avg. american consumers allowed themselves to be doped, just like the frog was doped. The difference between the frog and consumers is that the frog had no choice and the consumers chose to be doped, therefore, the dopers have it easy to dupe the consumers.

Every time I got a better job that would have helped me out of poverty the cost of living went through the roof because of dodgy banks making bad deals and a ridiculously corrupt Australian government. We do the poor and Working class always have to pay for their losses. Australia is now a tax haven for billionaires and crinimal organisations and the general population are being squashed.

Lots of talk of the market being inflated. Do u think there will be a recession or downturn anytime soon? I recently came into a sum of money. I bought a house and paid off half of it. The rest is neutrally geared and just ticks away in the background. I barely even think about it. The truth is, the role of financial advisor can often be overlooked but should never be underestimated. After facing a significant portfolio loss in 2020 during the COVID pandemic while trying to manage my investments on my own, I decided to reach out to an investment advisor. At that time, I had about $126K left in my portfolio. Now, without having to lift a finger, I'm semi-retired, working only 7.5 hours a week, and I'm just 15% short of my $1 million retirement goal thanks to my subsequent investments.

Always love the grounded basics that you remind people of. The more analytical hobbyconimists seem to forget hh income changes when referring to the 70s and and forget inflation being compounding. I’m curious to your thoughts on interest when compared to change in average incomes. Is the income used in those comparisons pre tax or post tax? The reason I ask is that many could be experiencing new tax brackets, being taxed more heavily without the benefit of buying power due to inflation. Double swing

The average META employee makes more in a week than the stimulus checks so the reason they hired was that they saw this whole remote work metaverse opportunity. That didn't pan out so back to the drawing board and cut losses. Nothing to do with stimulus. Everyone got an extra 4k once and that led to permanent increases in prices ? Doesn't pass the common sense test . Now COVID disrupting supply chains, millions dying and companies flush with cash going on a hiring spree makes more sense .

Assume real inflation is 10% each year for the last four years. That is 1.1 x 1.1 x 1.1 x 1.1……..= 1.46. That is 46%. Cars and houses for the last 4 years reflect this 40 to 50 % increase. Low interest rate = stock market inflation = hyperinflation. Fed needs to increase the interest rate to above 10% to crash the stock market inflation in order to bring back the normality.
@xiphoid201112 сағат бұрын
The average American has a spending problem, a bad one for decades now. Savings rate for most Americans are 0%, meaning they spend all moeny instead of saving. Most of us Asian Americans save more than 10%, probably more than 20%. I save 30%. So a 23% inflation over the last few years only affects 70% of my pay, meaning I onlt experince a 16.1% actually inflation in my spending, lower than the 20% wage increase, so I have more money left over than ever. To top it off, the 30% I saved into 401k, IRA, HSAs grew by leaps and bounds. So now you see how the terrible spending habits of most Americans, being blind consumers instead of savers and investor, is the main problem.

I’ve never pulled out of the market and have weathered every downturn since 1993. My returns have been strong during the market’s upward trends, which happen most of the time. The challenge now is being five years away from retirement while dealing with inflation. Going more conservative doesn’t effectively combat inflation, so I’ve opted for a 60% equity, 40% fixed-income portfolio, combined with ABB, until I retire.
