Price to Sales ratio today seems to be currently DOUBLE or TRIPLE what it was on basically all of those pre-bull dates. So trend bulls have to believe that we have reached a spectacular new permanent high plateau for the decade ahead. Because I don't really see sales skyrocketing any time soon from here. And I think mean reversion actually is a real thing, historically.

What bothers me is that: 1) In the fall of 2024, Warren Buffet raised the most cash ever in his career (>$320 bln); and 2) The Cyclically Adjusted Price-Earnings (CAPE) ratio is now 38.08. Since 1870, there have been only 6 instances where the S&P CAPE exceeded 30. In each of those cases, the market crashed at least 20% within 12 months after crossing 30. Most recently, the CAPE went over 30 in Oct. 2023

@@AgeofDictatorships-yc1yt everybody I talk to is saying this. This means 2 things: 1) either it happens a lot earlier, like Jan or Feb or 2) They drag this bull market longer than we could imagine. Lastly, charts don't are hindsight, you need to be looking at liquidity. Charts don't work for long.

@@lez075 These kinds of events are distributed by the Poisson distribution, which means that if the event hasn't happened just yet, the probability that it will happen grows exponentially - like waiting for a bus at a bus stop. In fact, I think it's happening as we speak.

Can't go wrong with debasement as a tail wind. More IOUs, prices rise in nominal prices but not in gold prices. Gold beat stocks by 100% since 1999 when gold bottomed. Debasement raises the prices of gold, real estate, stocks, all assets. Debasement has driving stocks up 15% a year for fifteen years in a row. People forget stocks can go down. Stocks now extremely over valued based on Buffet indicator and other indicators. Stocks measure debasement at 15% a year for 15 years. Wow.

I like Ryan Detrick as much as anybody else, but please don't rely on data from 1990 onwards. This era was a bit of an anomaly, with (untill 2022) constantly lower interest rates, and mostly reasonable valuations (apart from 2000, 2007 and 2021). We need to look at an era of sky-high P/E, persistent inflation and threat of high tariffs and trade wars if we want a realistic guide looking forward. I'm not specifically thinking about 1929, but since you asked...

For example, every single time there has been a significant correction and an obvious Bearish Divergence preceding it, he missed it and didn't notice it. Then, however, he would report on the Bullish Divergences thereafter, once again, always using TA to report on his ever present BIAS towards being bullish!
