I didn't. Played BF5 for about a month before going back to BF1. I still play BF5 occasionally when new content drops and it's certainly improved since release, but Battlefield 1 was and still is a god damn brilliant game, nothing compares to it.

Except BF2, BF3, BF4, BC2...those are just the ones I played and theyre all better. With the exception of BF5, yea. BF1 has some bad map design (lack of cover, too easy for sniping) and terrible game mechanics (flag capture is way too slow, carpet bombing from planes, 1 shot sniping without headshots...really?), it looks mostly gorgeous though and it can still be lots of fun despite its flaws.

@@Randalmaker Only one of those I agree with is BF3, that game played perfectly even if the weapon balance wasn't great. Unpopular opinion but BF4 for me is still the most overrated game in the franchise, the launch is still one of the worst launches in fps history, and the decision to lock attachments behind battlepacks made the progression a total joke, let's not even get started on how many cheesy mechanics and exploits existed. Dont know why people rate that game at all haha, but that's just my opinion.. BC2 and BC1 were both really fun, but I put BF1 above them as an overall experience definitely. Didn't play BF2.

@dzonvejn Yeah I've only heard great things about BF2, but unfortunately it was just before my introduction to the franchise as Bad company 1 was my first. And yeeeah, fair enough BF4 is fairly popular to a lot of the community but i just don't get the appeal. I think it was a lot of peoples first BF game as a lot of Call of Duty players were joining at the time, so maybe some people dont have much beforehand to compare it to, but that game only ever leaves a bad taste in my mouth when thinking about it. Whenever I hop back and play it I just think how I could be having a much more enjoyable experience on BF3, which makes my entire time on the game redundant lol.

@@Randalmaker Sweet spot sniping makes sense to me, you're probably not going to recover from a neck or upper chest shot.....you gotta watch for planes they're fun af to fly....flag cap could be a wee bit faster....not really sure if cover is better in previous bf's they all have huge open areas like irl...lots of games have bad maps. I think its a masterpiece even with a few flaws I try not to focus on them too much but I get it.

@@kungfujiujitsufliptrick4832 To use the "realism" argument on a bf gameplay mechanic is completely mute when in the same game you need 5 to 8 bullets to kill an enemy soldier with a regular weapon. And what about selfhealing or reviving ppl just with a syringe or repairing tanks with only a hammer in the middle of a field....the list goes on and on and on. Battlefield is NO SIMULATION and its never supposed to be! And OF COURSE someone who likes to fly planes and use snipers loves BF1. That is as surprising as the sunrise in the morning. ^^

I've never really been a fan of shooters taking place in world war 1/2. So I only ever played the bf1 open beta. And I've got to say that playing on Sendai desert was the most jaw dropping experience ever in battlefield. Planes were flying over, tanks rolling out, horses jumping over destroyed vehicles. The atmosphere was phenomenal, and I wish I'd bought it now and carried on playing it

Because the servers are empty, at least on PC. I went over my data cap just to reinstall 90gigs of Battlefield 1 only to find completely empty servers. Not SMALL servers, I literally could not find a single game. Every time I'd do so it would put me in an empty lobby. I would browse but no servers showed. There's literally not a single soul playing BF1 on PC and it makes me sad.

Still playing BF1, actually exclusively BF1 as I can't afford BFV, but the largest issue for me in this game is the net code. It always feels like there's a few times I'm killed in matches where instead of me losing to a better player, I'm losing to undetected hits. Kinda cheapens the experience and feels unfair, but not enough to drive me away. At this point, I just have to live with the fact the net code errors won't be addressed in a years old game.

Wow, this gameplay proves something one of my friends said is pretty solidly founded. He said that sniping isn't A playstyle, it's THE play style. The worst part about it is that it makes playing any other class feel kinda crummy, by which I mean if you even slow down or stop for one second, BAM, you're dead crummy. I feel like the game isn't balanced at all sometimes. Me and a couple friends hopped on today and, I kid you not, could not survive for a single minute per life as infantry. We would be constantly sniped, hit by mortar rounds, or mapped by unfairly accurate rifles that some of the classes have. I know that dying is just a part of playing a shooter, but when you can't even stay alive for one minute in between each life in a war type game, you start to have less and less fun until you just start getting angry that you can barely even fucking play before dying and waiting a mandatory fifteen seconds to get back in the fight. Take PlanetSide 2 for example. In that game there are usually buildings that fights are taking place in, already negating snipers being super dominant in gameplay. Another thing to note is that the starting weapons (for the most part anyway) are some of the best and most consistent weapons in the game so that new players can still somewhat compete with veterans. Now let's look at BF1; sniper meta, check; guns that are unlocked later on that blow the beginners gear out of the water, check. They don't even give the players adequate ways to deal with such annoying overuse in your selected soldier buffs, unlike PlanetSide 2's implant system. I understand going for realism, but taking realism to this extreme doesn't make a game fun, it just sucks off the players that can find a way out of these death loops and cause the enemy to go into death loops of their own. There was potential for this game, but absolutely no thought given as to how everything functioned with everything else and certainly no thought as to how the game should be balanced. It gives vets advantages over noobs, has too much player death to even be enjoyable at times, and one class is much too dominant over the others. I don't know about you, but after looking at all these blaring issues, to me BF1 is just an unfun shooter that rewards players for doing all the wrong things and in turn gets a lot of things wrong itself.

The main reason I stopped playing t bf1 is because I missed the fully automatic guns and gun customisation, like suppressors, acog sights, angle grips etc. The graphics are awesome and the gameplay is fun but I protect bfv and bf4. Still will always have a place in my heart for bf1 tho.

All the grass in the maps of BFV certainly made it harder to use anti-material rifles. It looks so much easier to find a spot to lay down looking back at BF1.
