I used to be mean, lazy and apathetic. Not meaning to come off stereotypically; stoicism changed my life. I was at rock bottom. I knew suicide wasnt the way, it would just cause more pain to people i care about. Everything just all made sense. The stories and quotes are almost like a puzzle you have to put together to be a well rounded person. Im still working on it, but throw yourself into uncomfortable situations, TRY, doesnt matter at what, just try, practice grounding yourself when you feel emotions that are going to impact you and others negatively. You are above that. Keep going, dont let your wheels sink into the mud. You can do it!

Same. Whether I read a page that I feel I can share with a friend or that makes me think, I tag it. Sometimes I'll read the day's reading and i don't get that 'AHA' moment. But then I go back to read it at the end of the day or during the weekend, reread them, and it's then that they tend to resonate even more.

Like Christianity in Essence: it’s not about the rituals and knowing the word- it’s living it. Practicing it. Applying it. “Waste no more time talking about it, be it”. Stoicism is faith in practice not in belief. Actions not just faith. Thank you 🙏🏽 this video is prolly one of the most impactful. Like the late great Zig Ziglar said knowledge should be taught in a way a 3rd grader can comprehend. Short and sweet. No big 5 syllable words and Harvard dictionary terms. This was the underline example of what he believed and you still dropped names in the beginning for us to do our own research. Well done #daily stoic

Christianity is about worship. It makes it so your words and actions depend on reward or punishment. It has to do with believing you are born broken and need to be fixed in order to have meaning. Stoicism and christianity are very different concepts.

Ryan you should make a video on Stoicism and temperance specifically when it comes to things like drugs, cigarettes, vaping, and alcohol. I think you’ve got a large teen audience and Something like that could be useful advice. Do these things have a place in our life or should they be written off because they have the chance to inhibit our will which to Stoics is the only thing that is truly our control. Thanks

I swear stoicism and Buddhism may be one of the ways for me to achieve some inner tranquility. I tell people I’m interested in it and every time a day hits me so hard that my emotions are just dead, my people tell me “stop acting stoic.” I get so beat by the day that towards the end I just have no emotional energy left. I feel numb and dead inside. I want to study stoicism so I can change my perspective and my mindset. Not so I can be a detached and emotionless drone incapable of feeling pain. Some times pain is necessary, but I want to react differently. I’m trying not to be discouraged.

I've been interested in stoicism for quite some time. I'm a psychologist in Brazil and the stoic way of understanding the world has helped me provide care to many wounded people. I'll be using your material via translation and adaptation on my professional Instagram and lectures, is it ok with you? Of course I'll reference your authorship always. In Brazil English is poorly spoke maybe 2 or 3 % of Brazilians understand it so translation of excellent content like yours is crucial in bringing educational and philosophical knowledge to them. Thank you and keep up with a world changing work! ;)

I have been sober for 31 years. Two years ago someone called me stoic. I looked up the word Stoic and realized that Stoicism is at the core of the AA principles and that I have been trying to live my life the Stoic way for many years now! I love Stoicism! It totally matches up my spiritual being with my human being. I am far from the lower case stoic as can be. Being an alcoholic I was the epitome of raw emotions running my chaotic life. Temperance was an unknown and unwanted word to me. My life was unmanageable and I hopelessly hated myself. Now I like myself, I am comfortable in my own skin and l am a better human being than I used to be. I am a student of the Stoic way on a daily basis. I love your videos!!!! Thank you!!!
