Love how Bilbo introduces himself to Smaug here with all he has done so far to keep the dialog interesting and catch Smaug's undivided attention while he does what he needs to do. Looks to me this Bilbo is way smarter than PJ's Bilbo.

Benedict Cumberbatch is still the better voice. The original cartoon and whoever redubbed Smaug, sounded kinda plain and boring. Cumberbatch made Smaug's voice more sinister and cunning and far more pwerful. He is basically like Christopher Lee, a powerful and charismatic voice and is threatening.

Benedict killed it in his role as Smaug. He sounded more sinister and sadistic. More cunning. Yes, the Hobbit Triligoy isn't as great as the LotR triligoy, Smaug looks more like a wyvern than an actual dragon, but I'd be more scared of PJ take than whatever hell that was in the cartoon. Cartoon Smaug doesn't sound sinister, sadistic or cunning. He sounds line a bored old man throwing a tantrum, the fact that his face is more cat-like than serpent-like isn't scary

Commenters.. yes, the original voice actor Richard Boone and all the production that goes into that work is superior to the audio on this video, however, if you pay $4 you can watch the original whereas stoic videos or whomever has put this together for our viewing pleasure for free and I do appreciate how well they have attempted to mimic the voice of smaug and Bilbo.. at first I was not aware of the overdubbing and I was wondering why it sounded weird but now that Ithink it was probably to avoid copyright infringement , I am more appreciative, as should you be.

Your Smaug sounds eerily similar to the original - my main critique is that you might have wanted to adjust the timing and delivery of the line, “What else brought you... lake man?” Smaug sounds less like he’s addressing this “lake man” and more like he’s beginning another sentence.

@@lifegamechanger8572 the original is better because Bilbo is still invisible in these scenes the same as it is in the book. Smaug's lines in the original is from the book. Now the voice cast for Smaug is better in Peter Jackson's version. But it would have been better to keep Bilbo still invisible and have Smaug says the same lines as the original period. A lot and I really mean a lot of fans where waiting for that but they were a bit disappointed period.
