I totally agree... A quartz direct drive moter on a 7" aluminum platter.. not that's the best of both worlds. We've been needing that for 2 decades now..

people were modding ten inch vinyls coz there were no Serato 7s but with the culture of portablism growing i guess there will be more. I would love someone to make proper little 7 inch dj turntables.It would be great fun and would save alot of space with a little mixer

if I knew how to code, I'd put together an iPhone app for just that purpose. maybe the whole audio interface would be built into a crossfader, so you could just plug in the fader and use timecode vinyl and beats from the iPhone through just one cable. a regular interface with 2 ins and 4 outs is cheap as fuck and pretty much readily available, this would add like $5 to the total cost of the xfader. am I the only one fucking with T H E V I S I O N ?

Hey what cables are you using for the serato 7 inch...My serato 7inch is not reading.....it doesn't have the clear circle....mine is fuzzy like..i try tuning it....but it doesn't work...thanks

Numarks PT-01 is compact and light... You count the add-ons and it's expensive.. it's a belt drive so it won't hold blends longer than 8 seconds.. for the total price of a fully loaded PT-01 you can get a direct drive TT. Yes it cuts well. No it won't blend well. Thanks for the video.

Hello I have a pts1 scratch and a technics 1210 plus a 2 channel sound card and a iPad with a Mixfader with the camera attachment.....the question is how can I set the technics 1210 up on mixfader can it be done and if so how and what will I need???

chris ultrabeat Assuming you have a phone for beats, the only other thing you'll need is a speaker to plug the output of the fader into, unless you just want to use headphones.

is there a loss in audio quality with these portable faders? the audio out from my stokyo kutter gives a much lower output than connecting directly to my laptop or phone.

IDK man, not to diss anyone or and please don't take this the wrong way. but can't we keep serato out of portable 7inch djing? can we keep a little essence in djing? I mean how heavy 7 inch records be to lug around? I mean at least with DVS djs are keeping turntables,slipmats,and needles alive.sorry I'm just a purist. peace to all djs no matter what you use.

Jonathan Villalobos I don't actually think it's a huge part of the movement, but people have asked about it so I wanted to fill them in on how it hooks up. In general I think most portablists are enjoying all these dope 7" battle records coming out.

Jonathan Villalobos I will definitely be sticking to my 7" vinyl. I think homie is correct when he says that the majority of portablists are staying true with only a few doing the Traktor setups. Especially now more and more 7" are being pressed. in the beginning I had cut down a few 12's with a hot knife and sand paper to clean the edges. I like the deep groves "anti skip" that most are incorporating these days like practice yo cuts. great album and you can definitely feel the difference

what about stylus MOJAXX? Is the GT standard stylus from Numark good enough? Or, does a modification need to be done to get a shure/ortofon on there?

Evan Saenz As Ritchie Ruftone demonstrates clearly here, the stock needles are... ok. They do the job. Yes, upgrading the cart is desirable, and will be part of a discussion of mods generally in a future video.

Andrey Zhiltsov You can get it OUT, but you can't get it back IN again before the scratch and speaker. So you'll need to add those externally - using it for DVS basically turns it into a regular PT01 USB.

Brilliant stuff man. Definitely keep it coming with these videos if you can. I've got the kuttin donuts slipmat and it's perfect. Thinking about the new pt01 scratch but it is easy enough to switch the fader like you have?

Techmical You can set the switch to 'on' and then just remove it, and stick any fader over the top... BUT I'm seeing some possible options to plug into the deck directly instead coming soon, so hold tight.

Mojaxx, you mentioned dvs in the video. you were able to route the line signal from the pto1 to a deck in sersto but you also said that running time code would need mods. im a little confused. Could you explain what is going on? I'm not as familiar with dvs as i am with the digital side of things

MrGoodbye23 With the PT01 USB it's straightforward, as in the video. With the PT01 Scratch, however, you can't get the control signal fed back in before the built-in scratch switch and speaker (without mods) - hence you'll need an external fader and speaker.

MojaxxVDJ hypothetically, could I control 1 deck with the pto1 scratch, but have a midi controller control the mixer in the software and cut with that? the audio would then run from the computer to speakers.

MrGoodbye23 If you have a Serato controller with a line level input and the DVS plugin, that would work fine. Just like plugging a regular turntable into your controller.

aTastyRabbit If you have Traktor hardware which supports DVS, sure. You'll just need to cut down or buy a cut down Traktor control record.
