Stole this exhaust from a famous Bonneville race car... Vic Edelbrock 👏

Bad Chad

Күн бұрын

We ordered some flexible exhaust tubing from our local NAPA store to see if we can replicate Vic Edelbrock's famous Bonneville salt flat race car. As soon as Bad Chad saw this car at Galpin Ford's custom car museum in California he knew he had to steal the idea. Is it 100% practical? Probably not. But, it's 100% cooler than dangit. We just need to make it work 👏

It would be way to contribute to the build. I feel really strongly about this, I think you would do a fine job for instance the exhaust system currently being worked on you could hold all pipes together and fasten them to the body. With a very clean look.!’so contact fast cut CNC tables. I’m sure they would help you get started.

You could weld the flex to the header stubs, find some tube that fits over the outside of the flex,cut it inti 1" rings, like egg rings. they can be positioned into what ever lay out you desire, in a row or triangle. the rings can then be welded together. the pipes will be free to slide through the rings. would make it easier to bracket off frame sides.

Please don't let everyone's negative comments bother you, I myself have used flexible exhaust pipe for several years when I was first starting out driving because of the affordability of the pipe. I always had very good luck with it for daily drivers and it last for a long time , and did not leak at all until it started wearing through. From my experience the clamp placement is very important because if the clamp isn't completely over top of the solid pipe underneath you can actually cut through the flex pipe when tightening.

I like the long header idea just like chad made. If the flexible pipe dosen't work solid exhaust pipe will I wouldn't go without a one off custom exhaust like he came up with. Definitely wrap the pipes as much as possible with some of the piping exposed to give away what the exhaust is. Just grill fuel tank and wireing and that rockets ready for take off. Can't wait to see an inside veiw of the car driving.

Its obvious you have never used flex exhaust, they get Red hot and bunching them together makes it worse. I'm sorry but that looks so amateur, and the time you used on the Hot mess you could have built real headers , a 3 in one pipe system. This car wouldn't even come of the 1940s category JALOPY Sorry this car was a waste of time and money, clad it was yours.

Research and know-how aren't for innovators like the Great Bad Chad. Down the road, they'll be selling it as Bad Chad Flexible Exhaust and you'll be first in line at O'Reilly Auto Parts to buy it if you know what I'm tryin' to tell ya.

@@varioushardcore Not likely I build traditional hot rods,. I love Chad, but he always says build with what you have, well this Junker had a lot to buy to make it a Junker. But it looks like fun!!!!!!!

How about make a section of perforated heat shield where it crosses under the door kind of like what a Shelby Cobra exhaust does.

I personally like the look. However, IMO a 45° cut at the rear would look better. Just an opinion. It's your car and your vision

He might keep cutting till they are too short or there's nothing left. I think he should have braided them.

This entire build is pretty enjoyable to look at from start to where we’re at right now and I don’t think he’s gonna go for any long rides where he’s gonna put on more than 40 or 50 miles at a time with that being said this is gonna be a great car to go out and grab a coffee on a Sunday morningit’ll definitely get attention and turn those heads

The race car in the picture has stainless steel flexpipe exhaust. Last a lot longer. Your flexpipe is not stainless and will turn to rust and fall apart in no time and burn up
@kabeer1478
@kabeer1478 2 ай бұрын
Beautiful idea ❤ You can also make them in a way that only one exhaust pipe is visible from side and at the end it should be cut at an angle so that the exhaust should be cut at an angle so that end is visible one after the other

I watched the building of the Ed Iskenderian TRIBUTE hot rod, built by Dennis Taylor in his workshop in Arkansas.. Dennis explains the why and wherefore of Ed's thought processes while building the original hot rod in the 50's. JUST as chad said recently "this is hot rodding"

@@bftfcfua2946 Don't worry Super Nate will make it run, I would use the flex pipe off the manifolds and tie them into a 3 hole flange and weld it to a 3 inch straight pipe with a muffler included.

3 peace's of pipe slightly bigger then them pipes about an inch wide welded together like a honey comb or triangle. slide over pipes an add a hanger to each one as needed. could make a long section to run them thru and make a step/heat guard to keep from getting the leg burnt.
@mischif5341

I would have made some nice steal plates and put that drill press to work. Making 3 holes the pipes could have ran through. That way the pipes would hold straight after welding said plates to the chassis

Good morning Chad, Jolene, and Fina. I've read a lot of the other comments about the exhaust and I say, build it the way that you want to. I do have a suggestion though. I think that being as how the ends of the pipes are so close to the tires, axle housing, and brake lines that I would point the tips out away from the car a little. Just an old man's opinion. God bless and have a wonderful day. 👍👍🙂
