I could recite my service number backwards whilst I'm pissed it's so ingrained into my head. I had what I suspect was a mitty only last week telling me his service number was 344***** which would mean since I first served in 1987 and got my number, 10 million+ more numbers had been issued, I don't buy it. But I don't know for sure either. If anyone can shed light on what the current or more recent UK army service numbers are up to roughly nowadays I'd be grateful. Cheers muckas

I know what this A B C guy is talking about... sure, its not the actual military, but I actually think it is "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six is a 1998 tactical shooter". That age old game had map routes and insertion points and similar. Waypoints were triggered via given key strokes and then: "Alpha go", "Delta go". :D

6:28 that seems like a hell of a lot of tours for only 7 and a half years. 4 and 1/2 tours of Afghan so roughly 2 and a half years, few tours in Iraq so let’s say 2-3 which is over a year in total, and apparently some time in SA. In total that’s probably over 5 years spent on tour 😂🤣. I’m no soldier so if anyone is please tell me if this is believable but that amount of time doesn’t seem right.

I’m ex-British Army, 12 years. I don’t what MOS is. I’ve heard USMC use that term. Not all jargon translates from service. Not allowing for walters obviously. But in my time in the infantry, 4 Banner tours (late 70s to late 80s) I never heard the expression ‘ally’. The equivalent in my battalion (1 Royal Hampshire) was ‘cabby’. If you bought stuff - as we all did - from Silvermans for ops - you could say cabby boots (eg. Lundhags). But you could also be bollocked for being a cabby twat: eg. ordering a para smock and wearing it in camp. You’d get away with on ops or exercise but not on camp.

@@RalphBrooker-gn9ivand yes, ALLY is a new term. We had "goochy" as something that was a genuinely good bit of kit but wasn't essential. "A goochy gas stove but a hexy would do the job!" ALLY seems to be "war like". IE "That section attack looked ALLY as fuck from here" or "ALLY cam you've applied there..." I like your "cabby" though. Can't think if we had an equivalent. Maybe "wanna" (wannabe). "Look as his sniper smock, he's a right wanna". Cabby for us was a play on/in a vehicle. "Give us a cabby on your tank". 😅

So that’s 3 1/2 yrs in AFHAN, several tours IRAQ, lets call that 27mo, so that’s 6yrs give or take. Then there’s basic which is 3 mo min. And he spent his final years in SOUTH AFRICA…. Yeah the maffs is rong (I know; maths, wrong, for effect folks), and terminology is somewhat off to me, althought I was a mere REMF Terrier, P7’din 03

The guy @ 1:28 just didn’t know anything about the military, not even his service number, it is a number that you will never forget, ok he might have been in the service and been injured and lost some of his memory, but even then he wouldn’t forget his service number, I have massive memory issues and I can trot out my number without missing a breath, just like any service member would. A therapist told him “not to talk about his injuries etc” I do NOT believe that, talking about your experiences and memories is a way of getting to grips with them, bottling them up is so counterproductive that any therapist who tells someone not to talk about them should be struck off. @ 2:15 this guy makes me feel sick 😷 literally, my son did two tours in Afghanistan and he won’t even talk to me about it, and I am not only his dad but, like him, I am a veteran, a veteran of 24 years, so listening to this idiot bragging about his nonexistent experience is like watching a Hollywood fantasy war film, it is like he watched the movie and turned it into his own story. @ 2:38 “I’ve literally killed thousands of people…..I’m not proud of it” so why are you telling the world about it……..because besides being a fantasy you’re bragging about it, nobody but nobody counts the number of deaths you have caused or lives you have personally taken, it is not a joke killing anyone let alone bragging on camera, this guy needs help. @ 6:42 , this moron needs help, his words are just complete BS, to do what he said he had done takes far longer than 7+ years, not physically possible, idiot. That guy at the end is of the video is wearing a British Army Intelligence Corp Cyprus green beret which you can see is a different shade of green to the Royal Marines who are talking to him. The badge is a Naval officers' badge normally worn on a white cap with black peak or sometimes on a black beret. So, the headress in that configuration doesn't exist in any British military unit. A RM beret means something and is important to its wearer. If he was a Marine, he wouldn't be wearing that thing. I guess he liked the badge and didn't know there was a difference between the colours in the berets or that the Int Corp existed. That would suggest he never served in anything 😂
