Hello from the Netherlands . for your power cable is easy with all those trees around the chicken coop. you grab a ball of good sturdy rope and let it go from tree to tree well above the walking height from the house where you have an outside wall socket and above the chicken coop you let the female side of the extension cord hang down where you can connect the male side of the chicken coop and you're done . thanks for the video SSLFD

Those two barrel latches on the bottom piece. I don't think this is critical, but if it seems critical enough to you... The way they are mounted right now, an animal scrabbling around on the outside of it, could easily hit the little button sideways. Then the latch will just fall open. If you turn them upside down from the way they are, then an animal scrabbling is most likely going to, if anything, ensure the latch closes. Gravity. LOL

So beautiful! It's also a perfect solution from my perspective dealing with rats & voles right now trying to take over our chicken coop & yard (nightmare to eliminate)...wish ours was raised that high off the ground with a solid floor! Hope the chickens like it.

I have stretched out the hoops for barrel latches for some of my projects because it allows things to move and still line up. Those barrel latch hoops have some really tight tolerances!

would you need to put some insulation around the part of the nesting box that sticks out of the coop? it looked all metal and will probably lead to heat loss from inside. looks great overall, i love how it’s off the ground.

Loved this project! Stone coop way more fun than some other projects, for instance, collecting sap at the old property in that cold swamp, which I found interesting but also rather painful to watch. Thanks Todd and enjoy that good feeling of a job well done :)

Will you be placing like a pull tarp from side to side for the goats, so it will block wind? You can weight it on the bottom, to stop it from blowing up. Kinda in the style of a shower curtain. I also saw branches wrapped in aisle rope that helps them not get bumbled foot and sore feet.

I always enjoy a good build ... especially when I can watch someone else do it! Looks awesome ... but I've got to ask .. why is it that the bolt latch is installed to be lifted instead of doing it the other direction and letting it fall down? I've actually seen this on several videos recently. Have I been doing it wrong for 50 years?
@jaenyc2632 жыл бұрын
U can do it either way. It won’t unlatch because u have to push and turn
