The EQ seems to be a one band parametric peaking EQ: - Height = gain, a.k.a. Cut/Boost - Bandwidth = bandwidth, sometimes referred to as Q - Frequency = center frequency. The expression controlling the frequency, hence the wah effect. If that's any help to anybody.

re: the Captain's "fuzz epiphany" - I think what suddenly made fuzz pedals work for Lee is that his remarkably improved playing is also more rhythmic, and in my view fuzz works best when the player plays percussively. Now that Lee has loosened up and is more rhythmically expressive, he can better control the wall of sonic noise that a fuzz pedal offers. Great sounding pedals, btw.

It seemed like you guys didn't explain the PDF 2 quite right. Now I haven't used the pedal and I'm not 100% sure how its wired, but it seems like a fuzz with an EQ. The way EQ's typically work is as follows; Frequency knob pinpoints a specific frequency to be effected. Bandwidth is how much the frequencies to the side of the one selected are being effected (also known as Q width) height is then how much the frequency is being boosted or cut (in this case it seems to be just a boost but I'd have to use it to be sure). So the comment at the end about having height and freq maxed is only half correct; Having the hight all the way up will give you the most noticeable effect because it is boosted to the max, but sweeping across the freq is what gives the "Wah" effect. (wah pedals are actually just boosted EQs that sweep across frequencies) If the bandwidth is all the way up, you wont notice any change in tone, because all the frequencies are already boosted. so the PDF 2 with an expression pedal is just a Fuzz with a built in Wah if you want to look at it that way. Sorry, had to take the opportunity to go all audio geek. Great demo and cool pedals! I really enjoy your videos.

Lee should really get around to stocking some of the Earthquaker Devices pedals. To me, it seems like they seek out those other avenues of tone for guitar but implement them in a way that it still feels natural to play. They have a lot of great 'writing pedals' as Rob calls them, like the Rainbow Machine or the Bit Commander, with lots of control. They also just have a myriad of different conventional pedals with vastly different flavours. They hit around the same pricepoints as these pedals and are also handmade but across the pond in the USA. I think they'd make for a great review.

I have a pdf-1 and it is amazing. On the clean setting it is a always-on pedal. Select a frequency, boost or cut it with the height knob, and select your bandwidth. You can really sculpt tone with this pedal. Compare with the maestro mpf. The new controls for the dirty channel look handy as well.

Do you ship Blade guitars at Andertons? If so, could you do a demo of the RH-2/RH-4 series? I'm planning on buying one by November/December and I'm really stoked on it and I'm sure you will be as well. You gotta see it like a Modern HSS strat, disquised as a regular Fender Strat but with Custom wound pickups and a Boost/Cut cirquit in it that you can turn on and off. The cirquit bassically gives you a change in the low/high or the middle frequencies and can be switched to a boost, a cut or just turn the cirquit off. It provides for even MORE versatile tones and something special to it.
