In this video I show how I would build a stone garden table, or picnic table for a flower garden. I used real Pennsylvania flag stone and used a old stone sidewalk for the top. All my videos are my ways and ideas, I always suggest anyone doing any type of work to consult professional help, www.amazon.com...

@@MikeHaduck Mike, thanks for the tip. So far I have found some great flagstone thrown out at the boro hall area. Houses fall down in our town on a fairly regular basis so I'm sure another one or two will fall down by next year so I should be able to get a sidewalk stone. Thanks again, I'll start looking now for next year as I have plenty of room to store it.

Hey Mike, have you ever made concrete park bench ends? Im thinking of trying to cut a mold out of 4" foam and pour them. Im trying to mimic the commercial ones that you see in parks with the concrete ands and 2x4s My father always talked about how he wanted something "heavy duty" like that for his backyard and im thinking it would be a nice birthday gift. PS your videos have been a lifesaver. I have probably watched just about all of them

Hi Raymond, if it is going to get hit hard with rain water I use mostly portland or else I use s mortar and add a little portland too it. no matter which way I go I never had a problem thanks mike

Okay on the mix. What concerns are there with putting on a scratch coat and installing stick on stone when overnight temps are dropping below freezing? Thanks in advance, I appreciate the time and advice.
@MikeHaduck
@MikeHaduck 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Ray, I would say it all depends on who you talk to. I do not take winter jobs like that, my policy is no freezing on concrete for 3 days I seen block jobs freeze solid on emergency repairs and a year later no problems so it all depends on the situation, but why take chances? I hope it helps thanks mike

I noticed you didn't cut a drip line around the bottom (like you did on the stone chimney cap). Does the 1:2 Portland/sand mortar ever produce efflorescence, and if so, would a groove help prevent it? Love your videos!
@MikeHaduck
@MikeHaduck 8 жыл бұрын
thanks, no I did not but it was not a chimney where it would go down the flue and maybe a groove might help but I had it pitched to the back end anyway, no for the efflorescence as long as it does not have the water behind the stone, thanks mike

Looks great! I noticed you use a continuous diamond blade on your grinder, I have the exact same Hitachi and use continuous blades also but wondering if you have ever used segmented blades, and if so what are the advantages if any in using it with different materials (stone, brick, concrete, etc)?

Hey ,Mike im estimating a re pointing job where the previous mason left a great deal of hazing on the brick. What do you suggest i do to get it off? I realize that many use muriatic acid ,but is their something less harsh ? Oh , i have been doing more brick and cement work as a result of your tutorials . I am an amateur guitar player ,so if i ever get in your area we can play ,lol .Thanks again . Al .

Hi Al, cleaning brickwork is a tough thing, there are so many types of brick, I have to clean one with acid on monday but the brick is like glass, so it will take it. other bricks will not, so It is a hard one to answer, I would do a small sample first, and see the results, I hope it helps mike
