I was very, very lucky to have a backstage pass for this weekend. I absolutely loved it. I stuck with the Stone Roses for a bit but quickly decided to bugger off to listen Underworld playing elsewhere. Underworld were great, Born Slippy. The Roses were pretty dire.

I was just reading a musical article where the writer said this was the worst gig he'd ever seen. Had to come and have a listen. Yeah, it's not great. But when Ian stops singing for about 30 seconds it sounds okay. 😯

so what the hell is this? what's the statement? "fuck you for caring"? "fuck John Squire"? what?? it's not that it's BAD, it's that it's purposefully bad. it's banal. he doesn't wanna be singing these songs, that seems obvious to me. nobody who sings well one night and sings like this the next is doing it without realizing it. not while at least somewhat sane and cogent. he doesn't look either, frankly. sang great on _Reign_ with Unkle, though. killer, killer song.
