@homesless2 жыл бұрын
@@ADayInTheLifeofMrsPerkins Apologies if you haven't already, but may I recommend playing their first album, "Core"? I was first exposed to STP when I was ~16 (thanks to Guitar Hero ("Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart from their album, "Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop" - my favorite song to the point I can 100% it blindfolded)), got instantly hooked, and got all their albums, the first of which is, again, Core. While not necessarily a smash-hit, I believe "No Memory", followed by "Sin" is a solid 1-2 combo that capsules STP at the time. Slow, and not necessarily to-the-point, for lack better terms, but I find they just fit together. I've also always been a fan of "Naked Sunday" from that album, personally. Now *that* song gets to the point in a hurry - almost uncharacteristic intensity from STP, in my opinion, but it absolutely works, complete with many guitar effects from Dean DeLeo and a driving background provided by Robert DeLeo and Erik Kretz on bass and drums, respectively.

When life creates a bipolar effect in our souls because nothing makes us happy... Hold me, but let me go. The dynamic of human emotions becomes toxic as venom while the snake slithers around our ankles. Easily my favorite STP song. Words cannot express how happy I was when this was the *final encore* song for the reunion concert I went to in, oh God, what was it? 2008? I will NEVER forget Dean looking right at me while I was waving "hello/thank you" for the curtain call before the concert ended. Please forgive me if I sound obsessed here, but Dean matched the speed of my hand waving at him, so I'm convinced he waved right at me. IIRC, I even motioned my finger down to my head like "wait, you mean *me*?"", and he pointed as if to say "yes, *you*" before we kept waving at each other again. Confession time: it honestly wasn't until Guitar Hero 2 that I ultimately discovered STP. My love for this song led me to 100% complete it, without missing a single note, also without even looking at the screen. Sometime in the midst of my Guitar Hero days, I proceeded to learn this song on a real guitar, and it opened my eyes and my creativity with none other than Dean DeLeo as a catalyst; my best friend learned the bass for it, and we had such a blast covering it together (we'd 100%'d it together on GH, but that's a different story, but he's not with us anymore, so I have that much more attachment to this song).
Am i the only one that wishes thisbsong was longer? Or listen to it 3 times over and over because its just that fuccing good 2024 song still fuccing kicks ass. Even tho I just found out it was acott having a bad acid trip an it was about him an his girl having an abortion so sad. Brought smiles to millions of people!!! Rest easy
