How is it possible to tell if it's old or not. Or is it just a wild guess. Designs of all kinds were probably made from 200 years ago to 5000 years ago. Who knows.
@PtownRockhound Жыл бұрын
It's called carbon dating. The layer for which these artifacts have been found with organic material that can be dated because of radioactive decomposition better known as Carbon-14.
@twintwo1429 Жыл бұрын
@@PtownRockhound I know about carbon dating. But when a man just picks up a point and says it's old or not, how do they really know that? Many point types and designs were made for thousands of years, and in many different areas at different times.
@PtownRockhound Жыл бұрын
@twintwo if the question is towards if an artifact is modern or genuine?. One that has knowledge and years of hands on experience will know what to look for.
@PtownRockhound Жыл бұрын
@twintwo And if you find similar point types in similar layers of dirt that age to the similar time periods. That's how you know.
@twintwo1429 Жыл бұрын
@@PtownRockhound your knowledge and experience, in no way, allows you to age a point just by looking at it. Many point hunters state whether a point is old or not, but that is impossible to determine, by looks alone. Type of point, either, due to so many types being made for thousands of years.
