First off great channel!! My dad died of Covid in April, and I’ve decided to become a more hands on man, and I need to stay busy to try and deal with the trauma of it. Your videos and channel has given me a calm, collected way to approach life and staying busy to keep your mind off things. The craziest part, I haven’t even started my projects yet. I watch all your videos and for months now I think I’m ready to start something, when I can afford to order some of the product from you. Thanks again for what you do and helping me get through some tough times!

@alecb85092 жыл бұрын
I bet the companies you called do outstanding work. The quality of this top is going to be mediocre at best. You can see the reflection of the backsplash and it has horrible orange peel. You would need to coat just the backsplash multiple times to bury the fleck texture. Then you would need to sand and sand and sand before the top coat. That would be the only way to get a quality mirror finish. No reputable company will spend the multiple days on site to do that. The companies that do will give you a substandard finish and take your money.

depends on the crack , you should use fiberglass cloth and epoxy, and underneath if you have access so it doesn't crack , bondo is not structural its crap

How do keep epoxy from running in the sink bowl?
@guyh.45532 жыл бұрын
Love the look. 2 questions I have about this. 1) How do you ensure that the back splashes are the same thickness of epoxy as the counter top? Gravity says that it will never be that way without removing them. 2) With the Rustoleum Granite spray, based on the caps, I thought that the color on the can was what came out of the can. I.E. gray cap with flecks vs clear coat with flecks. Didn't know that you had to have an undercoat paint.
@harpoon_bakery162 Жыл бұрын
my cultured marble vanity top with 1 sink is 55" long by 22" wide and has a built in backsplash on the rear, and an option one on the left. Since the left backsplash is removable I will lay it on it's side, but the rear is another story, I'll let the epoxy run down and connect with the bottom epoxy. It's not a squared off built-in backsplash. It's rounded so it flows down to the horizontal plane at a slight rounded 90 degree angle (it's hard to explain, sorry). So that's what I will try to do, but I'm not sure if it will work. I'm looking for a video that they might have done with one like it.

There is quite a bit of orange peel in the final finish. Are you able to get a glass smooth finish or is that just they way it is? Possibly the paint specs, maybe another layer of epoxy.
@Iamk2jones Жыл бұрын
Yes you can. But you need to sand with a fine grit sand paper. But that will make it the top hazy and you will need to polish it with a buffer or by hand. That is the only way to get a glass like finish I think.

This May be a stupid question.... I don't have a torch, will a hot air hair blow dryer do the job?🤔
@StoneCoatCountertops3 жыл бұрын
A heat gun would be a better choice. But if all else fails, you can use a blow dryer but you will need to extend the time removing air bubbles from the mixed epoxy and I would also mix by hand with a paint stick for a good 5 min. This will incorporate less air into the epoxy mixing. Wal-mart sell a heat gun under $20, it would be a good investment

Can the cracks be sanded or buffed down and sealed in some way, then do this technique to resurface? The Plumber company spaced us totally off after saying the surface could be buffed out. They claimed they didnt cause the crack. They sealed slight leak underneath which is fine, but I was so mad they provided no other recourse. Since then, there are more cracks. Is it beyond hope?
