Great video Mitch. Will definitely add this to the list of techniques to try. Quick question regarding one of the test boards behind you. Do you have a video showing the technique used on the blue/black/gray/white test piece behind your right side? Looks like the colors were poured separately and slowly mixed together vs an exotic pour. It's got a great look. Thanks!

It looks really cool like desert stone. It doesn’t really look like the granite you showed as an example as I feel it’s colors are far too uniform and the specks of paint are too small. Maybe it needed some black splatters or something on it. It does look cool, just not a reasonable replacement for the design that was used as an example

Anyways I learned about your team on a Facebook live and started watching your videos and I'm super excited to try some of your products cause believe I have tried a lot of different products and quite a bit of them I wasn't to impressed with it so I will definitely be putting in my order this week! Love this method. What about a painted marble look? Possibility? Also, my counters are a laminated particle board and very old. Over time they have become slightly uneven (bowed). Will this be a problem with the self leveling epoxy?
@StoneCoatCountertops
@StoneCoatCountertops 2 жыл бұрын
It can be when applying color in the epoxy, this style we put clear epoxy on but if bowed really bad the self leveling epoxy may be thin on the bow and additional coats may be needed. Try to get the bow out with shims from underneath

Geologically speaking, you can have brown splotches that you made your "boo boo" with. 😁😁 I really like this look a lot for kitchens. Looks real. One thing I noticed is that you didn't have a rough outer edge like in so many other pieces you've done. Was that intentional and could you have a rough outer edge? I imagine you can. Just curious. Good video!

If you can try and shim up from underneath the countertops to bring the counters to level. If you can't, you can do a thinner coat where the countertop is out of level and let it dry overnight. Sand the leading edge of the epoxy to feather that transition and sand the epoxy. Now do your undercoat and pour the top this should help a ton to keep from the colors running to the out of level section. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.

Do you need to put a base coat under this paint if you are going over coloured laminate?
@StoneCoatCountertops
@StoneCoatCountertops 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you'll need to do a couple steps to go over old laminate. Check out this video Mitch shows how to go over a laminate bathroom vanity. Follow these steps to prep then do your sponge roller after the undercoat kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZjWp5mubZuCosU Let me know if you have any further questions after that video!

This one is super easy and you pretty much know what it will look like before you pour the clear epoxy, and applying clear epoxy is pretty simple

What kind of paint are you using?

Latex paint semi gloss from the home depot. Let the paint fully dry before applying the epoxy. Let me know if you have any more questions

I think some white spray paint fractured over the top would take it to the next level! Still super easy and not too intimidating for a beginner.

I wanna try that and try using some Stone Spray as a final layer for the tiny specs left behind, that might look super sweet! Thanks for the great comment

Using this method with concrete would my base layer be a pigmented epoxy resin or polyaspartic to guarantee maximum adhesion? Then apply the colored paints as shown?
@ToddBizCoach
@ToddBizCoach 2 жыл бұрын
What prevents this method( laying down first a polyaspartic or epoxy base layer for adhesion) from being used on concrete exterior surfaces like an entrance way or landing with steps?
@ToddBizCoach
@ToddBizCoach 2 жыл бұрын
Mitch , show us this process on exterior steps. Every person selling a house needs this on their entry way steps to provide wow! Factor for prospective buyers.

That looks pretty doable, but wondering if you ever do this with the counter tops already on - for instance, how do you do it smoothly around a faucet and over cabinets without making a mess?
@shoyrushoyru
@shoyrushoyru 2 жыл бұрын
You’d probably remove the faucet and maybe sink (if applicable) and mask off the cabinets with plastic sheeting so that they do not get splattered and you have a flatter surface to work with. Then when you’re done you reinstall the removed items.

No! Just make sure the oil based is fully dry and off gas before applying the epoxy. The epoxy will bond just fine to it. Great question!

No, just make sure whatever paint you use if completely dry before covering with the epoxy
