Every place needs a Jesus. If Christianity had been practiced properly throughout history, it could have been the greatest force for peace and social justice... Instead, it was co-opted by the corrupt and powerful and became a tool of bigotry, war, imperialism, pogroms, etc. It's time for Progressive Christianity to rise and take over and in the Spirit of Ecumenicalism. I feel Jesus' message was universal and that he can be applied to anyone of any faith. I feel non Christians can be "honorary Christians". I embrace a belief system that combines Mainstream (that is, exoteric or orthodox) Christianity with Esoteric Christianity, NeoPaganism, Hinduism and generally an interfaith approach. All faiths are blind men grabbing different parts of the elephant and I'm grabbing as much of that pacyderm as possible. To me, Christianity is a multi faith faith, combining Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Roman mystery religions and Dharmic faiths as main components. Christ is basically Vishnu, who incarnated in a highly adept Jewish holyman named Yeshua Bar Yosef / Miriam. All deities are One Deity. YHVH / Allah, ParaBrahman, etc. are One in the same. This is what I believe. I also believe in a very non - literal interpretation of Gnosticism (which doesn't reject the Material and Earthly) and feel that The Demiurge represents a false understanding of Deity. The Demiurge is false piety and scriptures that embrace division, repression, bigotry and hate. When believers cherry pick only the good bits that emphasize goodness, charity, love and good conduct, they are separating the wheat from the chaff and not being superficial "not true believers". The Demiurge Principle can be applied to all scriptures. If something preaches division, sexism, other bigotries, sexual repression, genocide, exclusivity, etc. It's the Demiurge breaking wind. Sorry for long, weird post.

While we were looking at the haul we were also technically looking for anything that might have been contaminated or tampered with. The last bit reminds me: Jesus dying on the cross is meant to be a direct and intentional parallel to the old Jewish practice of animal sacrifice/“the scape goat.” They would transfer their sins onto a goat and sacrifice the goat to God. Jesus took all of mankind’s sins and died for us, thereby being the last sacrifice. This is a completely intentional parallel, and early followers would have recognized this. It’s literally what people mean when they say “Jesus died for our sins.” So yeah, Christianity has human sacrifice. That’s the whole gimmick in fact.

I actually grew up in a pagan household and I confirm that they are indeed very pleasant people. Their traditions may seem weird to most people, but if you take a step back and examine your own cultures religions, youll most likely find some very odd beliefs in there too. Some of them can be a bit self righteous (mostly younger members) and Druids are a bit preachy imo, but they generally keep to themselves and have a very live-and-let live attitude, which I find is very common in non-organised faiths.

It's always amazing to me how fast these things can spew bullshit completely unchallenged or even acknowledged. "The ancient Druids worshiped Baal, one of the most powerful demon kings" The usage of "Baal" and "Beelzebub" is already considered dubious WITHIN THE BIBLE as they don't ascribe that honorary title (basically meaning 'Lord') to any particular god and then twist it into a poop joke, comparing the god's followers to flies swarming around dung. (Yes, that's where "Lord of the Flies" comes from, grade-school level biblical shit jokes.) Even if "Baal" were a singular specific god, why would ancient people living a huge distance away in northern Europe be interested in it? Also, is he a god or a demon king? Isn't it disingenuous to call other religions' gods demons and then slander them as devil worshipers? Since you seem to know how high he ranks in Hell's demonic hierarchy, you also shouldn't criticize anyone else's interest in demonology.

Ba'al was an ass. I love when Col. Carter punched him in the face in Stargate: SG-1.

That's assuming Baal and Beelzebub were even from the same geographic area as the Druids. Spoiler: they weren't.
@umachan92865 жыл бұрын
The druids didn't worship Ba'al or Beelzebub, they're more in the area around the modern day Middle East and predate the bible by hundreds or even thousands of years. Technically they're referencing the same god just Ba'al was the Canaanite name and Beelzebub was the Philistine name. It's only in the 17th century that they were turned into demons and Kings of Hell by the church.
@KEVMAN79875 жыл бұрын
I find it interesting that all of the pagan gods were turned into demons by the church, but they didn't do the same thing to the Olympic or Nordic gods. They let them just be considered nonexistent mythological characters.

This reminds me of that episode of King of the Hill where the character of Junie Harper tries to ban Halloween in Arlen due to it supposedly being a "Satanic holiday invented by the Druids," with her being portrayed as a complete nutcase throughout the course of the episode. The people in this documentary feel like the exact kind of people she was supposed to be a parody of.

Oh, and my grandfather was a blind pastor (not at the time, have you but that was during the period he had left the Pentecostal church cause he disagreed with some things, though eventually became a pastor of his own Assembly of God church, though he wasn't the self righteous sort like these people) who had no problem with Halloween (he wouldn't have said anything against it anyway if he did cause he knew that denying kids something others enjoyed just made them want to do it more, though fortunately he proverbially see what idiots like this can't, that Halloween is just a fun scary secular holiday and that it's good to let kids be kids, and he knew scripture well enough to know it could be pretty violent). I went to a Baptist Sunday school and am currently a non-practicing Methodist (basically it means I believe in God & Jesus, but don't go to church on Sundays, and not too religious and enjoy things like METAL music (my mom even likes rap music including Eminem and while my grandfather wasn't one for swearing especially MF and saying God's name in vain which is the commandment that most people mistake for a ban on all profanity, though again my grandfather would know you don't stop someone from listening to it cause it just makes them want to listen to it) and Dragon Ball (I have also read Harry Potter as a kid, though I stopped around Order of the Phoenix cause I found it boring compared anime/manga at the time, and also found the fact they used wands to perform magic kinda redundant when you'd think they'd find a way to perform it without them, or something that could double as melee weapon like a staff/scepter). (Guess I became spoiled by video game RPGs, Naruto, and Dragon Ball Z).
