ACTUALLY, I think Shreveport is used as a filming location more often than New Orleans proper. At one point it was the 3rd most popular city for filming in the USA, with Los Angles and New York leading by a large margin. The reason Shreveport is preferred over New Orleans is because it's in Northern Louisiana, where the weather and climate is a little less chaotic and a number of buildings have architecture similar enough to fool people who have never been to the city. Granted, they still go down there from time to time because some things can only be found in New Orleans, but the city is called the New York of the south, and it shares a similar kind of busyness without the expectation that parts of it will need to be shut down for filming.

This movie is legitamately cool. I really liked it. Fulci really knows how to create an thick evil atmosphere, and hes at his best when it comes to movies like this. The most obvious thing to love about this movie is the gore. It exceeds anything made before it, and 97% of the films after it. For the most part the prosthetics, fake blood and latex still look great. Far better than most of the CG in todays "horror" movies. Seriously, this movie is gory as hell and personally I think its perfectly used. The story too is pretty good. This is not a perfdct movie, but it is one that has a dark and dreary atmosphere and uses strong imagery to get a pervasive feeling of dread. Great movie
