Roaming the woods in the Ozark’s, you find stones, very much like the stones featured within this video. Of course, the Ozarks are positioned deep within the territory of another mound building culture. Locals know where the smaller mounds are, but protect their secrets. Great video! Thanks for allowing us to explore with you!

Take a look on Google Earth at West Woods. You can see the long barrow, but if you know about the shapes on the countryside, the long barrow looks like the head of a snake, and it fits into a dove in flight. Take a look at Hursley Village to Winchester as well. The centre point of Hursley is the mouth of a giant turtle, whose head and neck take you to Winchester. It's a bit vague now, but the shell of the turtle fits around the golf course and some rounded suburban streets. Take a look at the underside of the turtle and you will see the feet: one with three 'toes' at Chilcombe. Funnily enough St Andrews Church in the middle of nowhere is where the first toe is. You can see the front fin clearly at the base of the neck, where Compton meets the motorway. Love looking at English countryside! PS: Farley Mount also seems like some kind of indicator. Pity they built a monument to a horse upon it!!!

That area of West Wood where you were searching for the sarcens is so beautiful and it looks accessible to most people. Perhaps you could include it on one of your tours. (I would love to come on one of your tours someday, if I could ever afford it!)

The stones are easy to find, most in view of the fireroads in winter.

Have you guys looked in the Fowl's Copse area to the North ? If you park at the North carpark via Lockeridge and walk downhill from the car park about 1/4 mile and take a left as it levels out, there is an area filled with large stones, they seem to of been collected and worked on there, there is also a super interesting looking wall that is built with the stones stuck in the ground vertically, about 30m long and knee high, I have always wanted to know more about them. There is also a huge pair of ditches near by, maybe 20m wide in places and maybe 5 meters deep, absolutely massive. And to the north, near the field and behind the farm there is another spot full of huge stones, one even has a mortise hole cut into it, they are right next to the main forest road too. Really interesting video thank you, I have not explored the south of the woods and did not know of these stones and long barrow.

Yes, my wife and I was staying at Alton Barnes. We were on a hike to Chalk Horse when we saw on the ridge towards the north a golden/orange squat top hat shaped aerial vehicle. No imagination or drugs. Very low to the ground.

Wonderful. Is there a particular location/indentation in the woods that is the quarry? Or were the large sarsons just scattered randomly?
@RuneRelic4 жыл бұрын
If they're 10.417" sockets at 3x 13.021" apart, then it will match arc lintel stone 150 (26.042" width, 13.021"x7 arc length @ 458.333" dia ), which would have sat freestanding upon a pair blue of stones (13.021 x 26.042), to create a lower case Greek PI glyph. Rather than the upper Case PI Glyphs of the trilithons, or the ring of 15 Lower case Pi Glyphs that became the Sarsen circle. Hence the 5 trigon that determine the front face location/vector of the Trilothons. Perhaps the bluestone ring was originally sarsen stones ? But that begs the question, why swap them, unless they was an upgrade of some kind. A mock up perhaps.

I dug underneath a whopper at West Woods with my hands. The soil was very loose and dry. Thousands of flint bits were packed in , but only under the boulder. Perhaps it once stood up before the stones were moved to site at Avebury etc ?

I found a valley at westwoods full of big pits and big stones scattered everywhere it’s most definately a quarry
@Nyctophora4 жыл бұрын
Very interesting! Thank you. I was just thinking about the Moai quarry - it would make sense to me if the stones were at least roughly cut to shape before moving (so you don't put all that effort into what turns out to be a dud). Perhaps what you have there is a 'failed' lintel stone that for some reason did not make the grade?

I don´t know abut England, but in Denmark some churches are placed on top of old mounds. This should have been an way to ensure that local people worshiped the new religion. Please visit the island of Als next time you come to Denmark, there are some dolmens dated to +3900 BC and other dated to 2500 BC

@@dai19721 The larger stones known as Sarsens, including the ring of thirty uprights, their lintels, and the five trilithons, numbering seventy five stones in all were sourced relatively locally. Westwood being one of these local quarry sites. The smaller stones, weighing up to around two tons and known as Bluestones, were brought to Salisbury Plain from the Preseli Hills in West Wales. It is thought that originally there may have been up to eighty six of these.
