We have been to stone rose several times in the past. On the last trip the building was very, very small I'm glad to see it has grown. There was one person there who maybe, or may not have been able to identify what you found. There were no Id books . On the last trips we found 12 pairs of fossils. Two were leaves they identified. The rest wete buds and unknowns. They took those and later we got certificates in the mail thanking us for the donations. We still, never found out what they were. We still had fun and our relatives got some stained rocks. I'm sure they are dust by now. If it's not jewelery, it finds it's way into the yard or the trash ben. Keep the coolness coming. Oh, by the way, there was no upper, or middle site just an area about 50x50 feet right off the street and a small cover to sit out of the sun. Be happy, safe and stay healthy. Life is good!

Stellar adventure! I’m not a fossil collector but this episode was awesome. Beautiful specimens 🤯. The educational value was definitely priceless. It makes me want to go look for some fossils now. I’m fortunate to live in a area with a vast amount fossils. We have trilobites, stromatolites, brachiopods, gastropods, cephalopods, bivalve, corals and other neat trace fossils. Growing up seeing these so often, might have made me dismiss the wondrous nature and awe of them all. Guess who’s going out today on a fossil hunt? 😆 Thank you so much for inspiring me to go check out my area. Thank you so much, Jared and Sara, for sharing your adventure. I would love to come and check out this site in the future. Stay Crystal 💫 Mari

I lived within 10 miles from there 30 years ago for a few years. The digging was next to the road and not much going on then. That was in my pre-rockhounding days. I might go through there and check it out when I head to Montana later this year. Route 20 is a scenic road across the top of the state and a road worth traveling on again.

Ahhh another fossil video! Thanks as always for the tour of the west coast sites. Paleobotany is an incredible field of study…so much can be learned about our planet’s past climate at sites like Stone Rose. Glad you kept the insect wings! How would you recommend isolating and reducing the size of the fossil and their host? We have some pieces from Stonerose and looking to extract smaller pieces from the pieces we brought back
@CurrentlyRockhounding8 ай бұрын
You can cut them with a trim saw or tile saw, but some people prefer a chisel for the natural break, but that is risky.
