This is the clearest coverage of the Valley campaign I have yet encountered. Thank you.

Placing Jackson as head of the Valley campaign was a wise choice. He not only knew the area he also knew the people very well.

Here on MD's Eastern Shore the Winder family is well known and pronounced like Wine-der not Wind-er. There was a Confederate memorial marker to Winder in front of our local courthouse but an argument between mayor and city council about it remaining up, making local news, likely lead someone to vandalize it and was taken down. Thank you for these videos, very enjoyable.

Suggestion, put all your maps North up it will be easier for most people to understand them.

In most instances, I try to do that. If I don't, I try to put a compass on screen.

Very well done. The maps were extremely detailed and clearly showed the progression of the battles. On a personal note my ancestor commanded the 3rd Wisconsin during this campaign as well as Antietam.

That's awesome. I hope this series of animations helped you better understand your ancestor's role in the battles.

Outstanding coverage, very engaging and entertaining! Watching your video brought back many fond memories of my youth in Harrisonburg in the 1970s. I attended my first reenactment there in the Bicentennial year of 1976 and years later portrayed a Harper's Weekly artist covering reenactments of the War across the country. I remember visiting Turner Ashby's gravesite out in the woods near town; I attended Harrisonburg High School and the Turner Ashby Knights were our chief rivals. Once again, good show sir!

This is amazing! Thank you. I am researching family history and the details of this video are incredible in bringing to life my ancestor's experience with Gen Stonewall Jackson and his Shenandoah Valley Campaign. Ancestor was shot (but survived) at Winchester, probably manning cannons with the 37th regiment.

i would enjoy you reading accounts from soldiers in the units commanded by say JB Hood at Gettysburg, etc. the comparison and different perspectives would be fascinating

Very helpful and well explained, well spoken narration. A small but fairly important addition would be a scale to the maps.

Thank you so much for watching! I'm trying to construct a scale but I've not been able to smoothly incorporate it into my maps.

Where can I get one of those t-shirts from the start of the video?
I probably remember and like and quote more of your little stories about the union flag being a dirty rag and the dress more than most things about history. TO ME, that is history! the feelings and words about people’s convictions

During the valley campaign, there was a missed opportunity to bag Stonewall Jackson, but the Federals missed him by 20 minutes.

Jackson normally didn't sit in chairs, did he? Do we know if trains were a special exception to the rule, where he would sit in a train car?

If I were there I would have fought with the confederates. If there is a next time I will fight for the confederates then too. I could never fight for the federals.

Don't look forward to war young man. That war was horrible and bloody. War is awful. If you ever do have to fight I guarantee you will regret wanting it.

So @JohnGalt1969 you think that the fight to maintain slavery was a good thing? That there should be slavery now? And that you are in favour of rebellion against the United States of America to which you belong? Really?
