Angel, we CANT overlook one of WB's other training partners, that Man of Steel himself, Houston Jones, his channel proves that he truly is a superb athlete. The man can jump from a standing start about 6 feet in the air and land on the mattresses. WB couldnt get any where near the Jones boys frog like, well, spring like jumps, i guess his Yuge leg muscles take care of it for him but its a sight to behold.

I love how Wonder Boy uses those side kicks. In boxing it’s called walking guys into shots, only he uses kicks in this instance in place of punches. It’s a testament to his great footwork, control of distance, and ring/cage management. Great vid mike. And very big of you to go easy on the nmf like that :))

This translates so well to longsword fencing. Distance management is essential, maybe even more important than in unarmed fights. Moving in a better position, flanking and baiting seems very similar to what you two showed here for boxing / MMA. Thanks for the clear explanations!

Love this video, footwork is the most underrated skill, and also the most important skill. It's what makes the difference between good fighting skills and brawling. I also like how you can really see Stephen's karate background shining through in his footwork, he also applies karate how it should be applied/trained. I'm really glad that there are guys like him and now also formats like karate combat bringing a good approach to karate. Would make for a very interesting video to see how different arts apply footwork. Muay Thai vs K-1 style kickboxing vs Savate vs Karate footwork would make for a very interesting comparison.

Great video and info! Without having ever done it, of all the combat sports it appears as if MMA would be the most challenging to master effective footwork due to the number of weapons you have at your disposal and need to defend against. Footwork gets you in and out of trouble. Thank you!

Some great techniques. I had the opportunity to train with a professional MMA fighter, Blake "Bulletproof" Troop a while back and he used many of those techniques especially the one where he taps my hands like Wonderboy mentioned "playing with the hands" of Geoff Neal. It was an effective technique against me who is much smaller. Not only did it help him maintain his range, but it also tired my shoulders when trying to keep my guard up.
