I've had the best success with this method. Besides the days where everything is just off, it's usually my alignment and not ball striking that gets me. Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated-Arnold Palmer

Great thought. I had this issue this week and my body was eventually blocking a good solid swing which led to all kinds of issues. Shorter distance, pulls and hitting before the ball. Therefore leading to even worse so called corrections.

I was teaching this for years. Most common error I saw In golf was aiming closed. Meaning most come over the top to pull it back on target. I used to say to students. Why do you want a perfect golf swing if you can’t aim it in the right direction. All you’ll hit are perfectly struck shots 30yds right…

I'm surprised this got posted. Great work. Every single lesson should begin with how to properly align and what it looks like, and how to improperly align and what that looks like. And give details on why alignment often dictates what happens regardless of your intent. Watch this video no less than 10 times a day

Aiming right (closed) was always a problem for me. Like he said I’d come over and pull it towards the target. Never was good at geometry but when I knew this was happening I used a spot aged to line the club to and then would try to make the leading edge line of the club face be perpendicular to my shoulders. I just didn’t do it enough LOL!
@legend90183 жыл бұрын
One of the best fundamentals that you must get right every time. I’ve played with so many golfers who all aimed down the right and even if they hit it straight they would still be in right rough. Any kind of fade or slice is even worse and inevitably they end up blaming and tinkering with their swing.

Lining up the club head to any target can also be a problem even on a 3 ft putt. I used to aim more than 10degrees left, thinking the blade was square. Takes a while to correct.
@t.j.mcnelis39993 жыл бұрын
Mike malayska spoke about this a little bit with putting. It would be better to make your line, set your eyes to the target line first, then aim clubface. This will put your mind at ease and improve your odds of making a good swing.

Excellent video! I made a similar video last year. The one thing Milo missed when talking about not being able to get the left side out of the way, he forgot about how people jump and move the left foot back in order to do just that. It's the classic amateur spin out and stand up move. Although, I think another reason people tend to aim right is they want to artificially move their right hip out of the way so they can early extend and still hit the ball.

Notice the line drawn at the feet at 3:05. In 2D, the line looks like it goes 30 yds left of target. I've heard smart people say they have to aim their feet way left to account for this effect, when in reality, if the feet are lined up parallel to the target line, they are only 3 feet off the pin, exactly where they should be.

I've always had problems aiming parallel ...I either like to aim left and cut the ball in, or aim right and draw the ball in... Ben Hogan said "You only hit a straight ball by accident. The ball is going to move right or left every time you hit it, so you had better make it go one way or the other."

The path is not the determining factor of where the ball starts, it's the face! Milo has that incorrect. Lot's of incorrect assumptions in this video about stance line, aiming point etc. There's the face and there's the path and then there's the golfer who is factor x, lot's of variables to deal with here. Not so simple as Milo demonstrates. Face-to-Path According to Trackman, the golf ball will start where the face is aimed (club face angle), and will curve according to the divergence angle between the club face angle and club path angle. If you want to get technical, approximately 85% of the ball’s initial flight direction is determined by the club face angle, and the other 15% by the club path angle.

If you are right eye dominant you have to begin to the side of the ball not move in from behind it. If you do the target will appear to move behind you to the left. If you lick a target point in from of the ball say 3 ft that will move the target left. Right eye dom people playing right handed should pick a mark BEHIND the ball to align squarely. This is why Hogan approached the ball from the side not from behind.

Best way i know to aim my club to my target is not to aim it at all. Instead I will aim the dorsal back of my neutral grip lead hand to my target as I am bending my body and then adjust my stance neutral just before I swing my club. Cheers
