I have a 2007 Corolla I bought new in 2007. I do the same thing, breaks myself and oil every 5k. I call it a little tank because nothing is ever wrong with it. I drive it in snow and 100+ Degrees summers. I bought it because gas prices back then were hitting $4. It’s a manual. Today, this car is still not for sale.

I love that Scotty is always promoting the used Toyota market. I would never buy anything else than a used Toyota or Honda, been burned too many times by VW, Ford and Chevy myself. I've had 3 Camry's and an accord. I'm current on a 2005 Camry thankfully it's the I4 which is bulletproof, with a timing chain. 245k drives like new, did have to do a lot of work on things the Iowa winters did to it, struts, wheel bearings, breaks, rear subframe and control arms, gas tank (well my local Firestone guys did it not me, they are awesome tho pricey but they warranty the work and I have never once had to take it back to redo a job they did). I plan to get at least 500k miles and hopefully will do a cool million, I love this car.

Needed a bigger car for a growing family, so sold my 05 Camry last year and bought a 2012 Highlander Ltd that had only run 99k miles. Although it’s made in Indiana, so far it’s been a tank. Regular oil changes, that’s pretty much it. I plan to drive this car for the next 10 years at the minimum!

The interior is durable and well designed for families in mind. It allows us to get to almost any camping spot here in Utah (besides the ones on super high clearance trails). We are satisfied!

From what I’ve seen. The Japanese factory for Toyota’s started Toyota’s Zinc-Based Primer a lot sooner than the Toyota factories in America. Thus, American built Toyotas rust out a lot sooner than Japanese built Toyotas. I notice that everywhere I go. 1992 Camry made in Japan that I looked at, no rust at 173K miles. But, 95 Camry made in Kentucky with 138K miles, had a decent amount of wheel well rust, not terrible. So you can see quality difference with each Toyota factory

Well Scotty, I have a 2021 Highlander V6 that runs so quiet I keep having to remember to shut it off. They tell me if I did walk away and leave it running it will quit by itself on a timer. If you push hard enough on the brake at a stop light the engine quits and the only way you know that happened is if you look at the tack! Let your foot off the brake and its running again. Best vehicle of any kind I have ever had and at 67 years old, I have had a few:)

I bought my wife a new 2018 highlander V6 after tons of research including Scotty's advice. We love it. We don't put many miles on cars. It still has less than 19,000 miles on it. There is one thing I think Toyota could improve on. That is option packages. My wife did want the power lift tailgate. So to get that we had to move up to a V6 which also included the sun/moon roof which I couldn't care less about. It seems there should be something in between. Why can't you get a 4 cylinder with a power lift tailgate?

Oh, I just love watching this video, because I have a 2009 Highlander Limited, made in Japan. It's got 121,000 miles on it and it's so quiet I got distracted by a phone call once when I was pulling up I walked into my house without turning off the damn car, it's just so quiet. I change the oil once a year with full synthetic, even though I only driving about 2000 miles per year tops. I just get a Groupon every black Friday and get an amazing deal for a full synthetic oil change, maybe $49 tops along with tire rotation. I bought it six years ago with 108,000 miles, so I don't have any more car payments, it's just a dream to own. I heard a reviewer describe it as a sofa on wheels and I have to agree, sometimes I get in and just go for a long drive to distress from my job.

Love the Highlander videos!😆 I bought a ‘13 last year to use for DoorDash cuz of fuel economy and wanted the 4WD. Live in Montana so snows a fair amount. Was $pendy but Scotty recommended so was able to get the money together. Apr. ‘21 68500 mi Jun. ‘22 89700 mi Mostly keeping up on the oil changes. Just had my 4th chg. Dashing, gets 20-21 mpg across town as Billings is spread out. Got 27mpg on the highway a few times on more flat terrain. Started looking a little early for a Toyota fir my soon to be driving son. An 07 Highlander popped up for $3500. (High miles;354k and needed struts replaced; hauled a boat sometimes) most of the miles long trips to see the grown kids. Felt like Japanese made and customer’s meticulous servicing were all part of the magic words I was looking for. Was able to replace the struts for about $500. Felt this was a good deal for a starter car for him. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Unfortunately there’s quite a wait and no negotiation on pricing. Other than 6 years newer car, not sure it’s any better than the 2016 model ? Some say they drive nicer.
