For years idk that peppers would over winter. Yes they will! My Orange Habanero's and Cayenne peppers are 4 years old. and turned into pepper trees. Day before i bring them into the house. When the temperature gets below 40 degs. THEY DON'T LIKE THAT> Plus the don't like temperature over 85 degs. I trim them back a little. let the pepper finish ripen off, Spring i put them into bigger containers. This give you a big head start on peppers.

I preserve scotch bonnets, tomatoes and others, by blending and portioning into ice trays with covers or other small containers and freeze. They can also be dried on racks with holes in the sun, or near radiators, or in an airy basement, or in the oven at its lowest temperature, and when dried, can be kept for years in jars.

Hi Marian. I plant my peppers between late Spring and Summer (May/June). When I freeze them, I don’t use the seeds anymore because I’m not sure if it’ll grow. So, I take the seeds out first before freezing. You can dry it anytime you have sun. Thank you for watching, Marian. 💕💕

Frozen seeds will still grow. Its when they get wet, sprout and then freeze that they die. Or if they get cooked. High heats will often kill the germination capabilities.

Hi Howard. Thanks for the sub. Only the ones for consumption are stored in the freezer. The ones for planting are in my pantry where it’s dark.

I'm growing a couple pepper plants I had bought. But I also have some habanero peppers in my fridge that I want to grow from the seeds. Do I have to dry the seeds first before putting them into the garden soil to germinate first. Or, I can put the seeds in the soil straight from the pepper into the soil?

Hi Gigi. Whether you dry them or not, they’ll grow. Thank you for watching. 💕🥰🥰

Don't freeze them! The best way to store peppers is? Dehydrate them, whole or grind them down to powder or flakes. Add a little salt for a natural preservative. Or make hot sauce out of them . If you freeze them they will willet dry up and freezer burn. You will have to use them up with in 3 months.. By Dehydrate them with a little salt they will last many many years in a well sealed jar

You shared some great tips. Because of space in my freezer, I'll dehydrate them next time. Thank you for sharing. However, I've stored them like this for almost 2 years now in my freezer and don't have any burn. I appreciate your input. ❤ ❤

@@sylviasandyYES keep some frozen. I still freeze some tomato's but now i'am making powder out of them. The ones in the freezer is for SALSA > Its also good to have some bags of tomato's in your freezer. In power outages. They act as ice

@@sylviasandy YES girl. at one time i had some many peppers and tomato's frozen and no place for meat. I SAID TO MYSELF PUSH COME TO SHUB. The tomato's and pepper will GO! This way of dehydrated them and to make powders and flake to store them in bulk gave me more room. I started dehydrated the frozen to make room. I hate to throw things away. 😆 Now i can keep some frozen, and the rest is Dehydrated into powder and flake. > For long term storage!

@@sylviasandy I found way to keep lettuce longer to! Take the head of lettuce push it down on the stem and twist out the stem on the head. by rising it off let it drip dry, wrap them in a paper towel. and put the head of lettuce into 3 Walmart bags! wrap it up tight put into the veggie bend. In the refrig. If you see any rust break it off! Depending on how fresh the lettuce is. I had some last up to 3 months 👀👍

What type of pepper do you use and when do you start to plant? Also does the pepper have the nice aroma that we we smell in some pepper?

Hi Elizabeth. I apologize for the late response. Just seeing your comment now. These are habanero peppers. Yes, they do have a sweet flavor. I love it. I plant them outside in Early Summer. You can also start the seeds indoors in Spring.
