Not even a sunscreen. Whenever I tried to use it every day it gives me breakouts . The same for toners, serums (specially niacinamide), etc. And when I stop using them bum! Clear skin. The only thing I use is a very basic moisturiser called Mixa (is French), a sponge to exfoliate my face sometimes, and that’s it. Every skin works differently and genetics also plays a role but I think leaving your skin work by itself is the best thing you can do.

Couldn't agree more. Simple products like moisturiser, cleanser and spf caused me to develop rosacea, perioral dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis and acne which honestly left me suicidal I was in so much pain. 5 months no skincare and my skin is finally healing. Some of us have skin that is too sensitive for products but we are brainwashed by the beauty industry to use all these products to 'fix' the problems that these products actually create in the first place! I admire the message you're putting out there, but what is so bad about wrinkles and signs of aging that we need to consider botox anyway? I think women have become victim to a sexist agenda that we need to have higher beauty standards then men and can't age in the same way which is so sad and unempowering for women. We have become so vain and we just go along with what the beauty industry tell us we need to 'fix'. I'm here for aging natural and saying eff you to the sexist beauty agenda!

finally , people are talking about the craze of skin care
@olran6880 Жыл бұрын
Things I've realised: 1- Know your skin. Most important and often neglected. If you know your skin can go on just fine without skin care products, then, by all means, save your bucks. And if you know your skin might need the treatment, then do buy products that work for you. Skin care is very personalised. 2- Keep it simple. stop buying x amount of products to use all at once. Less is more. 3- Have a realistic goal. Pick one skin issue you'd like to address at a time and do your thorough research on the best ways to curb it. And don't expect to look like the people on the cover, they aren't real. 4- See a dermatologist. Your issue might be beyond what Kim or Selena are using and/or selling. Meet with a professional that can tell you what your skin needs. 5- More expensive doesn't mean better. Save your money, pay your rent. Opt for cheaper alternatives that will work for you. 6- If it's working for you, stick to it. Don't be intimidated by others raving about some brand or some product. The devil you know is better than the angel you don't know (unless you know what you are using is essential and the brand you are using isn't effective, then you can opt for an alternative). 7- Take it slow. Don't rush your skin and don't force your skin. If it doesn't want a product, move on. 8- Stop your bad habits. Touching your face, not washing your pillow, certain foods that trigger your issues, etc. Some of you know what causes your skin issues, but instead of solving them, you buy all the products in heaven and earth. 9- Take care of your internal too, not just the external. Eat properly, drink water, exercise and all that good stuff. And if you can, buy some supplements you might be lacking that could help improve your diet (consult your doctor first and watch out for "health quacks" trying to sell you a dream) 10- Finally, love yourself at every stage. Gives you a realistic view of where your skin is at each phase and where you want it to go without feeling like it isn't good enough.

The penny dropped when I realized that so many of my new clients that were just starting to take an interest in skin care after years of “neglecting” their skin, were in fact the clients with the healthiest, loveliest skin! During lockdown I decided to do an experiment and I quit all skin products except my Cerave face wash and moisturizer. 3 years on that’s still all I use and my skin has never looked better. The only other product I’ve added is jojoba oil which I’ll dab on for a little facial massage twice a week. I also use the jojoba oil sparingly as a body oil and hair treatment when needed. Oh, and I also use a terry wash cloth when cleansing my face, and that takes care of exfoliation perfectly. (facial scrubs are actually quite harmful to your skin, and chemical exfoliants are a total waste of money!)

You slap a million different things on your face and then end up wondering why your skin looks worse after a year than it did before you started (ask me how I know). 1. Identify your issue(s). 2. Target the issue(s) 3. Don't be seduced by the next big thing; there will ALWAYS be a next big thing. 4. Pare down to the minimum routine needed to achieve your aims. If you're only targeting one thing, you do NOT need 30 products day and night. 5. Leave well enough alone if your products are working. You do not need just three more things to take it to the mythical "next level."

When you're diagnosed with a serious and life threatening illness, in your youth, or in middle age, you soon realise the absurdity of worrying about skin and appearance. Face-lifts, botox, fillers, bull$hit skincare ... ITS ALL INSANITY! Relax and be grateful for your health. Jowls are hardly worth losing sleep over (nor is acne, for that matter!). I would know, I have spent years focusing on both, until a real scary health scare shook the vanity right outta me.

I love using Korean skincare products. Their ingredients are amazing and high quality with less cost out of your pockets. I’ve seen the most results from using K-beauty compared to using Western’s brands. However I agree that your diet and health is very important and contributes to the health of your skin! When I was eating healthier, drinking more water and exercising my skin was more consistently clear. And this was way before I started to use K-beauty. I think at the end of the day there are honestly only two products that work long term. Sunscreen and retinoids. I think if you consistently use these for years you will look younger, however 99.9% of the other “anti-aging” stuff is garbage. Moisturizer is nice as well in providing immediate hydration and of course cleanser for obvious purposes, especially if you wear makeup. My husband’s routine is sunscreen in the morning and retinal at night and his skin looks better than mine. I am thinking I’ll ditch most of my skincare products and do the same. Edit: Exfoliation is also not BS, I definitely see an immediate difference when I use the Ordinary’s AHA BHA peel. Lots of people say that product ruined their skin but I think it’s one of the few exfoliants that actually contains enough actives to work, just be careful and don’t necessarily leave it on your skin the full ten minutes

I've spent sooo much money. I think i'm going to try cutting it all out and only using a light cleanser, a light retinol and plant derived squalane oil or castor oil. HELP.

This. I can understand that some people who have severe acne need drugs like tretinoin but there is a RIDICULOUS amount of people using it for the most minor of issues. A huge cult following of people all over here and on reddit, after perfect skin, but the reality is a lot of time it destroys your skin in the process. I too, started it for blackheads, minor pimples, and a few fine lines, and it absolutely wrecked my skin. Harsh, numerous products are not the answer. Constant irritation and inflammation of the skin is just overdoing it and exacerbating the problem. Less is more.

Finally people are talking about it. I Never invested so much money on skincare. I have tried only sunscreen after watching youtube videos. But even sunscreen made my skin worse. Then i stopped buying sunscreen and now i only use a gentle facewash and a moisturizer. I dont do makeup. If i do i only use eyeliner, lipstick and a little compact powder to freshen up my face. But that is occasional. I am close to my 30s and what i realize that your skin and hair will look healthy if you have a healthy lifestyle. That includes 7/8 hours of good sleep at night, waking up early in the morning and doing some exercise, good gut health, eating homemade heathy meal , you should include every vitamin into your daily diet, stop overthinking about hair and skin, and of course smart phone, laptop less cause their lights are the main problem For our skin and eyes. I know it will take time to make this habit but it will give you so much physical and mental peace. The gut health plays a huge role for the skin and hair. Dont waste money on unnecessary skincare products, instead invest your money on your diet ..

Skincare is a scam. I used to love skincare, haircare, makeup and spent a ton of money on all three. The pandemic opened my eyes up to a lot of things. No more skincare for me. No more masks, toners, serums, exfoliators, special treatments, etc. I use a handmade salt soap for my face I buy off Etsy and a natural oil or combination oil on my face and that is it with the exception of occasional exfoliation with a washcloth or a homemade sugar scrub. I used to wash my hair almost every day because it is fine and thin. With the pandemic work from home, I started washing my hair less, just putting it up if I had to look presentable on a zoom meeting. I started washing my hair every four days. Then I quit drugstore and salon shampoos. Now I make my own or buy natural products. I still blowdry my hair but rarely use my flatiron which I used to use almost every day. My hair has really improved. I have less hair fall and my hair looks thicker and so much healthier. For makeup now I usually only wear mascara, sometimes I will add eyeliner, and a bit of lip balm and I am good to go. I bought my last foundation in 2017. Foundation is not good for skin. Now my skin breathes with a light oil only in the colder months. I wear nail polish (I always did my own) a lot less and actually like my natural unpolished nails. I am really enjoying a more natural, healthy look and saving a ton of money too!

No day creams, night creams, oils, serums, balms, toners .. honestly I don’t even know what half of this stuff is but I hear people always talking about them. All I do is cleanse skin with a pine tar based soap in the shower, exfoliate, (Im a full body scaper so that’s part of my routine) , mild scrub with borax after , and moisturize with either Vaseline or Aquaphor. Nothing else. No special products. I think it’s a balancing game. You don’t want to have no routine at all but neither an overly done routine with the entire store of Sephora in your bathroom lol My theory is that anything that disrupts the skin barrier (microbiome) will cause issues. This can either be done by all the products people slather on, the lack of applying simple products that will re-establish the skin barrier, a bad diet .. or all 3. I’ve also noticed when I take a healthy diet seriously, my skin also improves from that. I remember when I was 11. I have never EVER washed my face. I had perfect skin. My brother was having acne problems so mom was buying all these acne cleansers for him. Then one day mom tells me it’s time i start washing my face. So she used on of those acne cleansers she was using on my brother. It dried the living hell out of my skin and the next day .. I’m not even joking .. I got my very first pimple !!! yupp. just sticking with the basic products and focusing on the diet is key. and of course, if you do have a specific medical problem like acne vulgaris (which, sounds like you didn't), you want to help your skin with active ingridients, but usually the drug store products your dermatologist reccommends are enough for that. they usually don't solve the problem though, just help. focus on healing on the inside. that's what i have to keep reminding myself of time and time again

Let me tell you: you are absolutely CORRECT ! Except about the plastic surgery and Botox. L O L. I advise you to love yourself as you are and not try to change those things in order to please societal norms or other people. I just turned 50, and I get people telling me I look like I’m in my late 20s early 30s all the time. Nobody believes my age. And it’s because I didn’t buy into all that crap putting all that shit onto your skin, which actually age is it. The sun is life-giving in this obsession with sunscreen is utterly ridiculous. OK put some natural sunscreen on if you’re going to go for a day at the beach but I am a cool, fair skin tone that is prone to wrinkles… And I still don’t have any. I mean zero around my eyes a couple of light wrinkles on my forehead, but that is it. Also, looking young is an attitude you have to have a young heart and outlook on life. The best thing to plump up your skin is to eat a lot of good fats, don’t be modelled thin, which is pretty gross anyway, and eat lots of water laden fruits, like watermelon and cantaloupe, which have a hydrating ability on the body way better than fluoridated water with chemicals and other peoples drugs in it

Same here, turning 50. Only mistake I made and fully regret till this day was falling to the pressure of waxing my brows when young. I eat like a Greek for I am one. Olive oil is key. No lines, nice plump skin, very rarely sunblock. Just a cover up if needed. Aging slow and I admittedly even causally smoked like most Greeks in my past. Best thing anyone can do like you said is eat well, hydrate, don’t touch your brows or use all this product. Don’t use all these astringents on your face. Keep your oils, your beautiful brows designed perfectly for you. Smile and enjoy when you do have smile lines. A sign of a happy life. Age spots run in my family. I have some now lightly on my face and that is a-okay with me. Enjoy your natural beauty. It is what makes you a one of kind. Xo

Thank you for sharing your experience, its ni so much info on the internet about that now. I also noticed last time, that I bought more expensive skincare and my skin getting just worse and worse 😑 I decided to try don't use any products for my face for one mount, very hopeful that my skin will get better.

Everybody are saying this shits because they have a flawless skin but when you have the worst skin ever you’ll feel like you need to use any product only to fix your skin and feel a little bit better about it .

I know how it feels to be in a bad place with your skin, I have struggled with bad acne at different points in my life. Just sharing my personal experience, excess products made it sooo much worse for me. But I really do understand how hard it is and how frustrating it is. I wish there was a one size fits all solution but everyone is different ❤️ I hope you find something that works for you

@@COABF Yeah that’s what I meant, most of the people who have flawless skin because of their genetics thinks that it’s so easy to get rid of acne and we just have to take care of our skin more , they don’t understand that acne doesn’t go away in a night and even if you use a lot of products and take care of your skin perfectly it will still look awful, I’m really thankful that someone like you understands that skincare is not only a products but it’s also body care and health
