To really help that second build with the guy who wants to play rust, rust is one of those games that massively benefits from the stacked cores on the x3d. So the performance difference between the 7800x3d and the 7700 is going to be a lot. You can have a 1080ti and have the same fps as a 4090, fps is entirely cpu based in Rust. So anyone who want's to play games like Rust, Battlefield, ANY MMO, or high density entity games please do your self a favor and buy an x3d.

Rule of thumb: Just because a part is cheap (or has had a price reduction), doesn't always mean it's a good deal.
@MrHeHim Жыл бұрын
ATX 3.0 just really adds ALPM for very low idle power and PCI-5.0 power connectors just remove redundant cables when you have multiple PCI 8-pin cables plugged in (really to make 16 pins more compact). Jonnyguru has a good talk about that and transient spikes on eTeknix, they happen so fast that it doesn't have time to pull said transient power from the cables and drop voltages/power delivery. So basically it's something to be resolved with capacitance/rails on or near the GPU die 😅 which might already be addressed because you won't see the spikes and would be seeing voltage drops on the GPU board reporting.. I'm getting in over my head here, but that's my impression

This is very important. When buying g skillz ram for ryzen am5. You HAVE to buy the NEO version. And not the z5 only. G skillz neo has the expo profile for ryzen, while the z5 have xmp for intel system. Your system may not boot corectly if you do not chose the Neo version. I have the same MB with a 7800x3d.
@PCBuilderChannel Жыл бұрын
This isn't correct. All of the AM5 boards will use either XMP or EXPO profiles. And there is no performance advantage of using one over the other. Many kits now come with both. We've tested this in a number of Ryzen build videos, check out our 7600 build guide for more.

I think boost my build is my favourite videos of all the content you produce. I know a fair amount about computer hardware but I don't have the experience you have in building PCs. It's interesting to see your opinion on products like which motherboard to choose. My knowledge on which motherboard to buy and which ones to avoid isn't that strong. On the first build you really helped that guy out. Buying a RTX 3050 is not going to be a great experience. Some people just buy Nvidia because they don't know if AMD or Intel GPUs are any good. And with lower to mid level GPUs generally you're better off with a 6600 over a 3050 yet you managed to squeeze a 6700xt in the build. The second build was cool getting a 7900xtx over the GPU they had considered buying, the 6800xt. Also if you play starfield with this PC the 7900xt is the best performing GPU for this game. Although I'm not sure at 4k if it's faster than a RTX 4090. Given how low the fps is in starfield I don't think I would play above 1440p.

Sometimes you save money buying the right parts from the start. You have a good deal more future use out of a 5600 and Gen4 PCIe. I bought two 5600's for $106 each well over a year ago. Will a RX 6650 XT even play Starfield on a setting you would be happy with? I'm running a Sapphire RX 7900 XT and my FPS is all over the place. I would also like to add this man is a genius when it comes to designing a gaming build. He boosted mine a few years ago and I LOVE it. I did sell my RX 6800 XT and bought a RX 7900 XT, I'm thinking my 12700K is maybe a little bit bottlenecked. EDIT........I'm playing at 1440, I know it wouldn't be bottlenecked at 4K.
@drix7615 Жыл бұрын
12700K shouldn't bottleneck any gpu
@MrKsan05 Жыл бұрын
@@drix7615 Thanks for the info. I'm no pro so i Really can't argue one way or another but what I'm seeing says it is bottlenecked, at 1440. Now, I know at 4K it will not be bottlenecked and I forgot to say I am playing at 1440 right now. I'm saving to get a 4K monitor now.

My favourite cooler right now is the Thermalright Assassin King 120 SE ARGB. I got it at $20 last time I bought it just to try it out with my 5700x and it's more than good enough for default settings. That ram is a great option too. I was looking at that for a while. I really like what they did there.

@11:48 i have a 3600x build and was going to get the 6800XT, as I only have the 5600xt right now that cannot push starfield above 60 fps ,thank god you changed my mind, I just want to be able to 60+ on 1440 and I will be at peace, found this channel yesterday and already saved some money, woohoo well either go with 6800 or wait for 7800xt

it seems that $219 for a b650 motherboard is getting close to x670 territory. I would like to see a better motherboard, otherwise excellent as usual. Every time I watch another boost my build episode it makes me want to build lol. I have an old hp pavillion HPE that could use a cpu upgrade. it has a 4 core, corei7 a960 cpu. the motherboard is a truckee. strange. it had 9 gigs of ram in it which i stuffed with 24GB. i replaced the old gtx730 GPU with an RX580. I dont know what else to do to it lol

The MAG 650 is a great board. You could go with the ASUS TUF Gaming B650-Plus WIFI instead, which is kinda the same board with the same features. Depending which one is currently cheaper, you'll never go wrong with one of these. For the RAM you could go with the Z5 NEO version, again the same RAM just with Expo.

Not just teamgroup has rgb ram in that speed, I was debating between teamgroup and corsair ddr5 6000 cl30's, and went with corsair to tie in with my 4 other corsair rgb products and its superior software and customization.

For my first build I went with those stupid 2.5” drives as well to save a few bucks. Then realized they didn’t come with the cables to connect them. So there went the money i saved. Ticked me off so much I sent em back. M.2 is the only way to go.
@JJFlores197 Жыл бұрын
Did your motherboard not come with any SATA cables? To my knowledge, they include at least 2 unless you bought a used board.

Hey Jason, i ordered you Starfield 4K build (R5 7600, 7900xt) should i upgrade to 7700 or 7800x3d? money isnt really a factor.

As of now September 22 2023, on newegg there is a bundle with the 7900x that comes with 32gb of ram. Meaning you could upgrade the cpu without much loss.

Hi Jason! Love your videos as always! I've been searching and searching and would like some advice for a possible upgrade to my current gaming rig. I occassionaly play AAA titles but far above all else I play WoW. I play at 1440p and feel the monitor prices for 4k gaming is still some ways from realistic. My build is a 12600k, MSI MAG B660 tomahawk Witherspoon a 10 GB 3080. NZXT C850 PSU and 64gb of ddr4 3600 ram. The build is 1,5 years old and I think I should probably have spent some more on a higher level motherboard, but I hardly think its worth the upgrade now? Do you think theres more performance in a CPU upgrade (maybe 13700 or 14700k?) Or possibly a higher tier AMD gpu?

You've got a pretty solid current build so unless you are unhappy with your current performance I would stay put for now personally.

But, I also get bored every now and then and play games such as team fortress 2, overwatch, and more. Both good builds after making the changes, however I am seeing a problem. You can upgrade the gpu yes but you cannot assume the person has a monitor that will work for 1440p or even 4K. I think that most people have 1080p monitors, I have a 7800 xt and cannot even play in 1440p because money went to gpu
