You have an amazing insight into your inner workings and that of many artists (and human) and it is such a pleasure to listen to you talk. Thank you for commenting. They really help my videos to be seen by more people. I wish I would have included making of this video in the footage because I’m in the middle of workspace remodel and I was literally making the final tweaks in the floor with everything from the old work table surrounding me like an episode from the hoarders. Life of a youtuber is endlessly glamorous XD

I'm a really bad procrastinator as I so often fail to start a project because I'm afraid of failure (actually maybe that makes me a good procrastinator). I know it wasn't exactly the point you were making, but you remind me that worrying about non-existent work being judged is ridiculous. Just start, then do your best and see it through to the end. Worst case scenario, it's doesn't turn out the way you want, but you'll likely learn something important along the way. Incidentally, speaking as a graphic designer, it's clear to me that the pixel art Bear logo on the phone booth needs to be on merch, maybe even as your avatar. Great video, as always.

I once heard this saying that “you’re already failing by not having started yet”. It really helps me when I’m gaming out scenarios for what could happen and wasting time on the worst case scenarios in my head. The more I waste time that way the less I will have to work on the next illustration and the next after that. Everything gets pushed back if I don’t start so in a sense I am failing by not already doing the damn thing.

I love your work. I feel the strongest emotions when watching your videos. I cried so hard watching "black spine". As someone suffering from depression it hits so deep, but at the same time watching your videos and listening to you talking about this stuff feels like I'm not alone in this. Can totally relate. Putting thought to product always reveals many holes. We might think we have a clear idea, but it's often overestimation. It's a struggle when the thought is yours. When the thought is a client's, it's torture.

Hi. Random person here. For the basics behind background, you should check Istebrak on KZbin. She will teach you that doing backgrounds are based on depth and the light in the environment. I'm not sure if Mikko ever explained how he does bg art. So I'm recommending Istebrak Since I learned about bg art from her

@@angrymikko well I am an example. Waisting my energy on socialising while my creativity is staying dumb. I think its like muscle must be always stimulated. Not put off because friends and relatives consume all my free time and I rare have even time for practicing art 🙄

@@skazala when you have friends that support you and your dreams, they will understand if you want to take some time to improve your art style or your skills. It does take a big chunk out of one’s free time, and without dedication you will not really get to be your best version of yourself.... but , with a little bit of time management, you will be able to balance social life and creativity.
